Hardware & Technical Monitor recommendations for Elite in the 24" range...

I'm looking for a monitor (preferably 24" so it would fit on my desk) that is capable of providing deep black colors without exhibiting annoying backlight bleeding or glowing. I know of VA panel monitors, but from what I understand they have problems with ghosting. But they are the closest to what I'm looking for. The only reason I'm even looking for a monitor is because I want to get an EVGA Geforce GTX 1060, but my monitor (22 inches, 16:10 aspect ratio, CCFL backlighting, TN panel, with a maximum resolution of 1680x150) only accepts VGA input. Should I just get an active HDMI to VGA adapter? Would getting a graphic card like that only to use it on such an old monitor be a silly waste?

I've been researching for a month and I'm going crazy. I'm just overthinking things and not making any decision. Any help is sincerely appreciated!

Honestly I'd say it's about time you get a new monitor. Personally I've had excellent experiences with Samsung monitors. I am sure other people will recommend other brands / models, but I always buy Samsung.

... well at least until now :D I wanted a 144hz one recently, for 3D gaming (stereo 3D, not VR), so after looking around I settled on a BenQ Zowie XL2411. It was a toss-up between this one and the Asus VG248QE, but in the end I went with the BenQ.

So yeah I'm currently on this one, and my Samsung's been relegated to my "backup gaming PC" in the other room (bog-standard 60 hz).

The thing about Samsung monitors is that they have varied inputs - DVI, VGA, Displayport (some models) and HDMI (some models have more than 1 HDMI). So you'll never run out of options trying to connect a Samsung monitor. The current BenQ has HDMI, VGA and DVI dual-link (necessary for 3D gaming). Yeah you can still stick a standard DVI cable there too but 3D mode won't be available.
