Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
Tamarins and Marmosets (Cotton-Top Tamarin, Emperor Tamarin, Golden Lion Tamarin, Common Marmoset, Pygmy Marmoset)

  1. Golden Lion, Cotton Top, and Emperor Tamarin (adorable conservation icons for SA)
  2. Common Squirrel Monkey (very cute mini capuchin and my favorite "clone" pick other than the bears, if they count)
  3. Geoffroy's Spider Monkey (comes in a variety of colors and has a prehensile tail)
  4. Black Howler Monkey (Sexually dimorphic and popular SA monkey)
  5. Grey Langur (India really needs a monkey. The lion tailed macaque is another option, but I prefer the grey langur)
  6. Golden Snub Nosed Monkey (Chinese conservation icon)
  7. Red Shanked Douc (my favorite old world monkey, colorful, very endangered, but rare in zoos)
  8. Hamadryas Baboon (The game needs a baboon, and this one also covers the Middle East)
Honorable Mention: De Brazza's Guenon (add a couple of colorful guenons/guenon relatives to the list above and I would say the monkey roster is passable but could still use a bit more variety.)

Variety Picks: Lion Tailed Macaque, Red Uakari, Bearded Saki, East Javan Langur, Wolf's Guenon, Patas Monkey, Sifaka, Gelada, Barbary Macaque, East Javan Langur

Grey Langur (India really needs a monkey. The lion tailed macaque is another option, but I prefer the grey langur)
Which grey langur? There are several species.

On that note, do any zoos keep them, outside of India itself? Not that Indian zoos should be discounted, but I'm curious.

There are twenty places in Europe (including Turkey) that keep grey langurs - I think the current consensus is that the ones in Europe are a mixture of different species and their hybrids.

At least one zoo (Apenheul in the Netherlands) keeps their grey langurs in a walkthrough enclosure:

As for my choices for a monkey animal pack:

1. Black-capped squirrel monkey
2. Gelada
3. Golden-bellied mangabey
4. Mantled geureza
5. Spectacled langur
6. Colombian red howler monkey
7. Grivet monkey or De Brazza's monkey

Walkthrough exhibit:
  • Golden lion tamarin
  • Emperor tamarin
  • Silvery marmoset
  • Goeldi's monkey

Hanuman/Northern Plains Grey Langur, but I'm flexible with that. I know they can and are kept humanely in some zoos, and I like them better than the macaques. The grey langurs have some cultural significance, and the lion tailed macaque seems a little scary to me. As long as India gets at least one monkey, I'd be pretty happy.

My personal wishlist for monkeys:

1. Brown Spider Monkey (CR)
2. Red-shanked Douc (CR)
3. Diana Monkey (EN)
4. Golden Snub-nosed Monkey (EN)
5. Lion-tailed Macaque (EN)
6. Golden Lion Tamarin (EN)
7. Ecuadorian Squirrel Monkey (LC)
8. De Brazza's Monkey (LC)

Gotta split into new world and old world monkey packs. The exhibit still gotta be monkeys.
With New World monkeys it's easy to have an exhibit animal - a tamarin or marmoset in the WTE would work fine. It's harder for Old World, though - there aren't a great deal of super tiny Old World monkeys unless you're willing to compromise and dip into bushbabies and the like.

Monkeys, incluind old world monkeys and new world monkeys

TOP 4 MOST WANTED
  1. Howler Monkey
  2. Spider Monkey
  3. Gelada Baboon
  4. Hamadryas Baboon
And others "important but secondary" monkeys to complete the list
  1. Golden Lion Tamarin
  2. Mantled Guereza
  3. Olive Baboon
  4. Squirell Monkey

Yeah I love baboons and I think that each specie are interesting, distinct and it seems to me fair enough to introduce this diversity of animals
