Monthly/Yearly/Tricentenary Orca thread - Passengers ETA? Unlock Class 6 internal?

Dear powers-that-be,

Any word on those lovely passengers missions? Actual, liberated, non-enslaved/endebted passenger missions?

What's happening with the Class 6 slot? As I understand it, the slot is locked (we can only choose cargo of HRM modules) because of the passenger future that might be available in the distant future? Any chance we can unlock it until then? Or how about even after?

Saying all this, I do love my Orca, which I use strictly to cruise around my home system. My baby is built like my FAS and rams even better and landing Particle Accelerator shots is a joy. And while rated as 'Agility 2' the thing can turn on a dime, with the liberal appliacation of FA off, even with over 3000 tonnes of armour. Also getting to use the Auto-Field Maintenence Unit, as the Orca seems to be 90% cockpit.

So thank you designer people for the Orca. It is a joy to fly. And I would appreciate that last cherry on top, sooner rather than later.

Lots of love and whishing you all the best,

I'd like to know, too. Latest I have heard was passenger missions and gameplay were likely to come sometime during season 2. Lets hope NPCs get some love until then, so we don't just ship nameless and faceless passenger "cargo".

Aye, if we are looking at a new commodity named 'passengers' then we have to ask, why the wait?

Now, if there's to be funky new mechanic supporting them, say a payout depending on the quality of the ride, destinations reached and time taken, that might be worth waiting for. But it seems unlikely so much development time would be used in producing a feature for just one ship.

Why just for one ship? Some passengers might like and pay extra for an exciting joy-ride in a FDL :)
If it's a module, any ship could transport passengers. Maybe dropships are wanted for military transport missions, the orca for the vips, other ships just as normal taxi's.
Would be fun to see different kind of transportation missions. "Requested, luxury transport to bladiebla, Orca or ... only", or "Military precision necessary, requesting transport of x persons to bladiebla a.s.a.p in well defended ship!"
In other words: for these missions, instead of a rank-requirement, give them a ship / ship-type requirement.

Agree. I started a whole thread trying to discuss the possibilities of passenger gameplay, and what I considered best (persistent passenger NPCs with faces, acting as mission givers, offering some rudimentary communication etc.) and the worst case (another commodity named "passengers") here: Please take your time with passenger missions and do them right!

Passenger gameplay isn't restricted to the Orca (and the Dropship, for that matter). If the initial design decisions are anything to go by, every ship will be able to equip some kind of basic passenger cabin, but luxury liners like the Orca will be the only ones able to fit the best V.I.P. cabins. The whole idea of different quality passenger cabins is really good, IMO, and I sincerely hope they don't drop it!

My Orca, Monolith Cab Unit, has been docked at Achenar waiting to take its maiden voyage with very rich patrons to a nebula and back since I bought it. I hope it will be able to do so ere Season 3 comes around. If not, well...I might have to update the fares!

Thanks to the pair of you, and especially you Arubeto. Good stuff to read!

I agree with both of you, with regards to passengers not being/shouldn't be restricted to the Orca. However, if this is the case then we have to ask, again:

Why is the Orca's Class 6 internal locked? If passengers are not unique to the Orca, then is there any weight to the argument that the class 6 internal is locked because of some future passenger-related mechanic? Seemingly, no.

Unlock the Orca Class 6 slot Frontier! Come on now, myself and the 9 other Orca owners would be very pleased! :)

Are we getting passanger (and fluid population mechanics) and colonisation mechanics, or any mix of all 3 in the loot and crafting expanison ?

When they do finally institute passenger missions, I will buy an Orca forthwith. I dig it. But until then? Nope.

The class 6 slot is for the multicrew changing room to swap into a sexy little trolley dolley outfit when "servicing" passengers. Lol
