Horizons Monument At Beagle Point

Hi Guys

How does it sound if a monument could be placed at Beagle point, similar to a Triangulation Point you find on various hill/mountain tops?

This could highlight the achievements of the 'First Ones' (bit of B5 there!) to reach the furthest point and give the rest of us something to follow in their foot-steps.

Pictures could then be posted as each fellow commander retraces the epic first journey.

Thoughts anyone?

Look forward to the replies.

Better off posting in the Explorer forum. It can get a bit like the Daily Mail comments section around here

Good idea!

Too bad our ships do not have persistance as we could just leave a huge pile of our crashed ships there. True you will lose out on your exploring money but that ship is there forever! :)

Ask FD to create a CG to bring some metal out to beagle point.(somehow)
Then the completed goal can be some sort of persistent POI obelisk to gather around, ideally on a tidally locked planet that somehow always points to earth, and says "Sol ->> 65000ly"
Lol

Someone give Frawd a ride home and leave the Sidey there?

Nah, if we're going to commemorate a ship reaching Beagle Point, then we should commemorate the DSS Beagle which is an Asp.

Well that's not going to happen if it's tidally locked, because in order to be tidally locked the planet's rotational period must be identical to it's orbital period (i.e. it must be rotating). For something on its surface to always point to earth the planet must not be rotating at all...

...or the axis of rotation must be pointing at Earth.
