Moores Law in 34th Centruy? What do you want to do with your ships computer core?

As mentioned, "Moore's law" was never an actual law in any sense of the word.
It was a PR marketing stratagem from Intel to soften up companies to plan for future investment.

In short, to convince people to buy a new Intel computer every two years or so.
And as always, it was catchy, and bored journalists ran with it.

Moore's law is unsustainable unless quantum computing takes off - correct me if I'm wrong.

Moores Law is frequently misquoted.

the point stands that we would have many thousands of times the processing power available than we have today

But we evidently do not, for whatever reason.

All my ship's computer seems to be capable of doing is rendering spatial audio, enforcing a pile of hardcoded flight regulations on me, and plotting simple routes that would almost be on par with a cheap 1980s GPS in functionality.

So assuming that the computer core in your spaceship dates back to the time of the first builds of your ships class or its oldest competitors, it is a couple of hundred years old at the time you are flying it in 3303, its still many many orders of magnitude better than all the computation available to humanity today... What "Apps" would you like to be able to run on it?

These super computers are so powerful that we don't have an option to join CQC while in the main game.

The instant Holo-me telepresence in other people's ships would cost a lot of computational power.

Well.
For sure there is no good storage capacity on these computers.
Just 500 of whatever storage units for data? Sounds pretty lame imo.

TL;DR They need to dedicate a screen in each ship's console as a portal to the real internet so that we can google/youtube/frontier forum/etc from inside our ship instead of alt-tabbing and then people can stop complaining they aren't given means to find information about the game INSIDE the game

I'd like it to display QTY On Hand of engineering materials when I select them in the HUD.

I'd like Return Trip or Reverse Route

I'd like a better representation of futuristic performance from most of our computer/scanning equipment. IE Ship ID Spoofing, with better/modded scanners having better encryption breakers (with the net result determining time taken to scan/range of accuracy) otherwise the time it takes our computers to resolve scans and scanners themselves to perform them makes 0 sense. Also, what happened to the internet? You're telling me in 3300+ one of the most useful tools for information in our current day hasn't evolved, and nothing has replaced it/exists like it?

Maybe that's the explanation, the functionality of computers hasn't increased because pure computational demands of sending messages and data between star systems have bottlenecked leftover cpu resources for functionality. Oh wait, I can't message a station in the next system, I have to physically go there........

Maybe in the intervening time we have had a sort of mini-Butlerian Jihad - limiting computer power so that AI can't evolve to a dangerous level. (A Musk-drive or Zuckerberg-purge perhaps.)

(Could explain some of the AI as well.... ;) ) {sorry MoM, only joking, please don't send your minion's death-squad after me}

Well, I'd go and play Elite Dangerous on it, then go on the forums and whine about griefers and beige planets and Open vs solo. Followed by whining about how the computer game is so much more lame than flying around my real spaceship. Then, I'd go and watch twelve hours of cat videos.

Something like this in my ship would be nice !

With all that power it should be doable right ?

- Beige! haha

Netflix, Chess, Skype? Pfff. Telepresence/-s of a dozen Miss Universes dancing sexily on the bridge.

I expect some on the board would rather have what Bernadette and Amy found:
