I've just been floating around space doing trade runs to bank some buck so I can get myself some shiny new upgrades, doing so I noticed how annoying it can be when you're doing a 120LY trip or so as the Galaxy Map doesn't appear to like plotting routes any further than about 70-80 LY
This is slightly annoying at times but not a massive problem then I realised... this is a space simulator set centuries into the future... We have standard Sat Nav that can plot courses across the world without issue (as long as you have the right mapping information)
This lead me to an idea/suggestion that i would like to put forward:
How about an actual route plotting system that not only can Map right the way across the galaxy but also to individual space ports and also return trips etc.
Obviously to stop it from being too easy it would be a case of you would need to have already travelled to the specific systems and to their respective ports (for instance if you've been to Eravate but only stopped off in Ackerman Market, you wouldn't be able to plot a course to Cleve Hub)
This would make trade routes less of a grind and will also prompt people to explore the galaxy a little bit more.
I just personally feel it would take a bit of the monotony and grind out of the most unenjoyable part of trading.
I did think it might be a case of having it as an upgrade but to one of your internal slots but then again, a decent guidance computer would probably be standard in most of the ships due to advancements in tech but if people felt it might be better to have it as an upgrade so that you would have to actually choose whether its beneficial to your over say a discovery scanner or a fuel scoop then its another idea.
