Passenger missions don't have to be boring, and while the tour missions usually aren't (cool planet view, yaaay!) there is a lot of missed opportunity for comedic hijinks. Therefore FDEV, I've thought of two new ideas for unexpected passenger mission hijinks.
1. The "left the family to fight the goids guy" story arc
triggers when:
If you reject both offers, the dialog tree starts again and you can escape without being fired upon while they're talking, but if you go to supercruise, the anaconda will interdict you again and the dialog tree starts over, with the same offer.
If you choose Jake and successfully evade the attacks, and land at a starport, Jake will only pay you the original amount. You'll get a message from Jake, saying "I gotta go to the ATM to transfer more money." and you won't hear from him again.
If you are pledged to Winters, Duval, Antal, Grom, or Kaine, you will get 500 merits if you accept the Mother-in-Law's offer. If you are pledged to Archer, Delaine, or Torval, you will gain 100 merit if you accept Jake's offer.
2. The "whizzed on the electric fence" story arc
triggers when
As you're walking, passenger will say "Oh wow I always wanted to touch one of these!" and yeah you see where this is going.
Passenger will touch the middle of the organism and you'll see the electric shock effect around their body for a moment and hear "ZZZZAAAPPPP!" then the passenger will fall down. You will receive this message.
If you land at a station or whatever in time, you get a mission complete, the expected payout from the passenger, as well as a 10,000 credit payout from the Pilot's Federation. If you don't land in time, you fail the mission and lose reputation points. "But it's not fair!" you say? Well, not all your passengers are going to be of sound mind, just like in real-life.
If you are pledged to Delaine, Grom, Antal or Rui, you get 30000 merits if you save the passenger. If you are pledged to the others, you lose 1000 merits if the passenger dies but don't get any if the passenger lives.

1. The "left the family to fight the goids guy" story arc
triggers when:
- transporting 1 single tourist on a tour AND
- ship is Dolphin or smaller
Mother-in-Law: Jake you're in big trouble now!
Jake: Oh my gawd it's you!
Mother-in-Law: You said you were gonna fight the Thargoids and come home with milk! And here you are, flying around the galaxy and NOT taking care of your triplets!
Jake: I'm too stressed out! The Sol invasion messed me up! I needed a break!
Mother-in-Law: My daughter asked Aegis what happened to you and they said were in Achenar the whole time! Lousy REMFr!
Jake: Oh crap!
Mother-in-Law: Oh crap indeed! Do you know what it's like to care for triplets?! They cry in surround sound! It's driving my daughter bonkers!
Jake: It's not my fault!
Mother-in-Law: Oh yes it IS! You wanted to be a daddy, and now you wanna run? You will pay the price! Cmdr _____, I have an offer for you. Give us Jake and you will be compensated well.
Jake: No, no please! Don't let them take me back! I'm not ready! Escape and I'll pay you double your rate!
You will receive two messages, one from each party. The mother-in-law will pay 200k. Accept and your passenger mission is automatically abandoned, sending him out in an escape pod and paying you 200k. Clicking X ignores the offer. Jake will offer double the mission payout if you deliver him to any starport or settlement. Accepting makes the enemy ship hostile again. Clicking X ignores the offer. If you reject both offers, the dialog tree starts again and you can escape without being fired upon while they're talking, but if you go to supercruise, the anaconda will interdict you again and the dialog tree starts over, with the same offer.

2. The "whizzed on the electric fence" story arc
triggers when
- Any passenger ship has a fuel scoop and
- transporting 1 single rich tourist or scientist
As you're walking, passenger will say "Oh wow I always wanted to touch one of these!" and yeah you see where this is going.
Passenger will touch the middle of the organism and you'll see the electric shock effect around their body for a moment and hear "ZZZZAAAPPPP!" then the passenger will fall down. You will receive this message.
Passenger is in critical condition. Drag the passenger back to your ship and land at the nearest station, settlement, or fleet carrier in 15 minutes or passenger will die.
If you walk to the passenger, an option will appear on the screen telling you to press a button (x if you're using controller). Your left hand will grab the passenger's right foot and turn you around to face the ship. You will then walk slowly to your ship (Hope you didn't park far away) as you drag the unconscious passenger. Once you arrive at your ship and click "board" the passenger is automatically chucked into your ship.
