Engineers More complaining / ranting

Yup, STILL trying to unlock engineers and still getting sick to my stomach. Now instead of only being able to grab 45/50 units, I can only grab 5/50 units at a time??? what is wrong with you FDEV? Again it's like you put a person in charge of these missions that just wanted to make people quit. There is nothing interesting about picking up 5 units of tea when there are 300+ available to buy, it makes NO sense at all. I get it's a rare commodity but come on... there are tons in the inventory so it's not THAT rare. and come up with more interesting ways to unlock engineers at this tier other than annoying the heck out of people TRYING REALLY hard to enjoy this game.

So simply put...
Nobody likes this,
It's not Fun,
It's not challenging in any way
It's more and more repetitive we've already done to unlock other engineer's

So WHY are these types of quests still in the game? and why don't you want engineering to be at least some what of a challenging or engaging experience instead of an experience that makes me just logout until I have tons of time to waste being bored again.

Get a mate, an in-game contact or ask on the fora for someone to come help you with these rare-good ones - you can collect new stock every 10 minutes, take them outside, jettison (abandon) - your partner collects them, then when you have the required total, they can jettison (abandon) and you can collect. That way you don't need to go 10 long trips. (They call it tea-bagging on here - just don't google that. ;) )

Have a read of Taking a long break because of 2.1 here's why.

When engineers were first implemented, they wanted 200 tonnes of whatever rare good they requested. And rare goods were a tad harder to get then. For example, Lavian Brandy would often only sell you 1 unit every 10 minutes.

BTW, I'm not defending the engineer grind. Also, I've been against the whole idea of piddling rare goods spawns with 10 minute waits for a refresh. Not my idea of exciting gameplay.

So you are basically complaining about doing TWO trips...

I can't wait for when you are going to unlock Selene Jean....

Mean Jean was easy, but I'm also a weirdo that likes mining. I had a spot to get the required Painite in like 10 minutes.

Well it took me 2 tries... first I tried todo it in an Asp Explorer, real crappy experience. good view though on the "action"... So I then checked what was not working, and then ripped everything out of my Anaconda, and outfitted it for mining, and then it became a totally different experience for me. But mining for many the first time is a bit of trial and error, regarding the outfitting, how to shoot the asteriod, how to avoid suicide limpets etc, etc.

And later I just fell in love doing mining in Ice rings. I can't wait for the new lighting update to test this out with my Beluga mining ship..... Great view and this is what I figured it would be useful for...

I don’t so much mind the “grind” for a single engineer but the fact that some engineers are hidden behind MULTIPLE other engineers is just tiresome ... if I want to engineer my Plasma Accelerators I have to first run arbitrary collection exercises for two other engineers, and then level them up, for stuff I have no interest in. And that’s why I run unengineered PAs or just give up with them.

Lucky its all optional really.

Not anymore, NPCs are engineered now and to regain the nerf on FSD, guardian module is needed, coming from someone who restarted playing after the update, stuck 10k LY from bubble with an astounding 26 LY jump on an ASP E, also guardian sites are almost impossible solo.

So unless you don't want to engage in any content, some type of engineering is compulsory. Also non horizon players are royally screwed.

What’s this about a nerf to the FSD? Haven’t noticed any changes.

Also, what’s the issue you’re having with the Guardian sites? I’ve had no issues doing them on my own, so am happy to offer advice if there’s particular difficulties you’re experiencing.

Edit - just to be clear I haven’t noticed any nerf to the FSD. There should have actually been a slight buff effectively by the removal of Discovery Scanners as modules.

Not with 3.3 update but within the time I last played, probably a year ago, my ASP E used to have far greater jump range than 26.2 LY, DBX now has better jump range than ASP E, it definitly didn't a year ago.

Hate Marco Qwent. Hate him with every drop of bile in my system. Annoying as crap to get invited, tedious to unlock and completely obsoleted by the starting engineers but is a complete roadblock to unlocking G5 thrusters with Palin.

Hate. Unadulterated, unfiltered, completely uncivilized hate. I'd nuke his station myself if I thought it gave me even the slightest chance of removing him from the engineer tree.

Rare goods aren't any better. Completely arbitrary rules to slow you down for no good reason instead of providing extra challenge, like say...pirates watching the station like a hawk for when you leave with 50 tons of rare goods? Naaaaaaa, just make it tedious as hell so we can waste more of everyone's time.

Also not sure why Selene wants you to mine so much without even asking for it herself...then wants painite...and then provides...ARMOR? Not any sort of upgrades that have anything at all to do with mining? Lots of engineers have this complete disconnect between the tasks they ask and the blueprints they provide. It's total lunacy. You'd think Palin, after telling you to travel THOUSANDS OF LIGHT YEARS AWAY, would offer some sweet, sweet FSD upgrades, but nah, just G3. Felicity has G5 FSD's and she's unlocked at the start. Not what I call rewarding, but since no other engineer even has G4 thrusters AT ALL, let alone G5, Palin it is.

The whole engineering board needs wiped and rethought by someone with some sense and sanity.
