"More excited about than planetary landings" - What could it be?

Hi all,

I'm so curious I'd thought I'd make a thread about it!

  • Ed Symons said there is something else he is working on that he is 'more excited about than planetary landings', but he couldn't talk about it.

What're everyone's thoughts? What secret update would be more exciting than being able to land on planets?!

My hope is it's passenger modules & missions.. :)

Some kind of walking around? FD are pretty tight with HTC/Valve these days, and the ability to move about your ship would be a great use of the Vive.

My guess(and hope) is a major mission overhaul.

Thargoids would be nice too, but they're already confirmed anyways, so I don't think that's what he meant.

walking around our ships at last would help with immersion.....cant be stuck in the pilots seat forever.....I want to get up and make a pot of earl grey in the canteen of my Annie...it must have some sort of kitchen/dining area for me and my invisible crew right?

Blimey, isn't that quote from a video from ages ago?

Like it was from when the very first public planetary discussions were happening, I think we *may* have seen the zoom in at that point, but it's possible we'd seen no footage.

My feeling in hindsight was that it was the buggy, he was excited about the buggy stuff.

Ed Symons actually told us what he was talking about when he said that. He told us in a recent live-stream. It is Avatar creation! :)

well, you are not wrong. The data wave scanner is need when you learn how to use it but there are absolutely ZERO incentives to keep going to surfaces other than beautiful views and rovering around for the lulZ.

Hmm not gonna see that custom made face anytime soon anyhow, i'd prefer more thought on weapons, modules and activities.

They said they are working on multiple player roles on ships. Could be that. I can see NPC or player passengers, passenger missions, walking around on ships etc. being included in that.
