Ship Builds & Load Outs More fuel or bigger jump drive?

I currently have an A5 jump drive on my Asp, and I noticed that the Asp has one 6 slot, and I thought, how about I sacrifice a little fuel for an A6 Frameshift drive? But I'm relatively new to this game, I currently have: Fuel 32, 64, Frameshift A5. More fuel or bigger drive?

I thought you needed fuel to get around. When I get back to civilization I'll certainly look into that loadout.

Three things you absolutely must have when exploring: Discovery Scanner, Largest Frameshift Drive, and a Fuel Scoop. Fuel scoop to refuel at stars along the way, largest FSD for maximum range, and preferably the advanced discovery scanner to hit all the objects in the system in one shot.

This is partially being addressed in the upcoming releases: there this stuff call "Materials" and they can be used for temporarily boosting your Frameshift Drive (FSD), depending on the quality of material you have. This will give you significantly more jump range when you need it, but not all the time. I have a feeling there'll be combinations that will allow for 100, 200 and maybe even 500 ly jumps! At least, I hope there will be, the fringes of the galaxy are simply out of reach right now (I've spent a few weeks looking for ways to explore the outer limb of the Outer Arm, but there's starless sections that are too big to cross).

The alternative, and I hope they open this up, is to jump into empty space. If they did this, they could make it somewhat random where we landed (no gravity well to pinpoint our jump to), but would allow us to get closer to a fringe star! The risk would be getting stranded in the empty blackness with no way to get help...

You should also invest in a detailed surface scanner (DSS). You can only get your name on planets/stars if you scan them, if you have a DSS, I think you get more money per object and you might as well get the most bang for your buck.

Where do u get the build upload prog from? would like to upload my ASP build. Currently using it as a hauler for those nice paying 500k + missions. Jump range is set at 11 jumps fully laden 64t cargo around 280ly range.
Have 52t fuel tank but might dump that and use fuel scoop more, that said being able to get to my destination on one tank full has saved me from pirates once or twice (if I cant be :):):):):) fighting lol)

I think the horizon 2.0. Might give you 10 to 15 ly jumps with crafting. Not very huge but can help.
