More information needed on colonisation facility economies.

Hello! So no doubt many here are trying to build refinery economy facilities - either starports or ground ports - so supplies of composites and metals are close by when venturing further out, which poses the question: how?

If anyone already has insights as to how to ensure a port has a specific economy type, we'd all love to know! A few questions I have at the moment:
  • Is it down to chance between all economies present in a system?
  • Do surface ports prefer the dominant economy present on the same body - will building a refinery hub and nothing else on the same body guarantee a refinery economy?
  • Do starports favour the dominant economy of the closest body? How do space installations that influence economy factor in?

The only thing I've noticed is all those big refinery ports pushing out CMM Composites are on High Metal Content worlds, which is probably stating the obvious to all the ED experts out there
