More large carnivores

I absolutely love JWE2 but I have one problem,
There are almost no large carnivores! This is a list of all the large carnivores in the game
•Acrocanthosaurus
•Charcharadontosaurus
•Giganotasaurus
•T-Rex
•Spinosaurus
That’s only 5 large carnivores and while yes I know there are others that are classified as large carnivores but we know that their not true large carnivores. So here’s a list of possible large carnivores
•Deltadromeus
•Mapusaurus
•Saurophaganax
•Oxalia
•Sigilmassasaurus
•Epantarias
•Tarbosaurus

While not quite as gigantic, there's plenty of large carnivorous theropods in the game. Allosaurus, Albertosaurus, Megalosaurus, Baryonyx, Suchomimus, Majungasaurus, Qianzhousaurus and Cryolophosaurus.
And generally herbivores massively outnumber carnivores in most ecosystems. So it makes sense to have a similar balance in the game as well. And it's already heavily in favour of more carnivores as it is.

As to you suggestions... A lot of them are problematic in many ways
  • - Deltadromeus is only known from very fragmentary remains and it's possible it's not a carnivore at all. It's also not that big. At the moment it seems likely that it's a herbivorous noasaur that might not even have any teeth. No one can agree which family this animal belongs to or what it looks like. So it shouldn't be added.
  • - Mapusaurus is basically almost the same as Giganotosaurus. No need to add another dinosaur that's just almost the same one with a different name.
  • - Saurophaganax is most likely just a large Allosaurus. I haven't checked the scale in JWE2, but in JWE1 Allosaurus was already sized like Saurophaganax. So no reason to add that either.
  • - Oxalaia is just known from a snout tip. It's big yes. But we don't know what it looks like. And some scientists have suggested that it's just Spinosaurus. Again not the best dinosaur to add.
  • - Sigilmassasaurus could be interesting. Again some scientists say it's just Spinosaurus (I disagree). It seems to be different from Spinosaurus and possibly even larger. And it might it might not have a sail. But all we have of this animal is part of the neck. So we don't know what it looks like.
  • - Epantarias is a dubious genus and should not be added.
  • - Tarbosaurus is the only suggestion that could be a pretty good addition. Although again, there are some scientists who say it's just another species of Tyrannosaurus. But it's probably distinct enough to add. It could be interesting

If you want more large carnivorous theropods, here are alternative suggestions.
  • - Torvosaurus. Present in both N. America and Europe. Larger than Allosaurus
  • - Ichthyovenator. A large spinosaurid where we actually have a bunch of the bones. It also looks wildly different from other spinosaurids we know.
  • - Zhuchengtyrannus. Maybe not the best suggestion because it's closely related to T. rex. But it's still distinct and very large.
  • - Daspletosaurus. Not quite as large as T. rex but still a good sized tyrannosaur.
  • - Yangchuanosaurus. Good sized theropod

But we really already have most of the really large notable theropods that are worth putting in the game.

It's not that it's a bad suggestion to add more large theropods. It definitely could be a lot of fun to add more.
It's just that most of the ones you mentioned are problematic to say the least.

I don’t agree. The most common type of dinosaur were small ornithischians, and right now there’s only one in the game (Dryosaurus), and the game misclassifies it as an ornithomimosaur. I’m not saying that half the roster needs to be small ornithischians, but there should be more than one!

Large theropods, on the other hand, were the least common type of dinosaur, and there’s already quite a few in the game. I’m sure there will be more added because large theropods are the most exciting, but I don’t think the game is currently sorely lacking in large theropods.

Hey! Your list is amazing, mainly Torvosaurus and Daspletosaurus!

Don’t blame me I just Googled the top ten largest carnivores and copied all the one the list had that weren’t in the game

A more accurate depiction of Spinosaurus under another name would be good I think (alternate model isn't a realistic option with different proportions). Not the greatest for longevity, but you could say that about any animal with unknown parts (seemingly still including Spinosaurus, particularly with the arms).

I wouldn't say blame. But you decided to post them. It's completely your choice. It was also your choice not to look into if those were even large carnivores to begin with or if they were dubious or pretty much the same. It just seems you didn't think very much about this at all. And I don't say that to be mean or anything.

I agree with you on most of this but since the JP universe Spinosaurus is very much its own thing Oxalaia or Sigilmassasaurus as a more accurate depiction could be cool.

To nitpick a bit, all of those are classified as Medium carnivores, and their sizes are distinctly smaller than the five giants.

Inside the specifics of the game, sure. IRL, these are all classified as large carnivores. The point is, we have plenty of large bodied theropods in the game. Lots of "large" ones, and plenty of "giant" ones too.

What we're missing is small, distinct carnivores. There's a bazillion of them irl. Therizinosaurs, alvarezsaurs, oviraptorosaurs, noasaurids, megaraptorans and so on. Some of the tiny carnivores could work exactly like Compsognathus, so there's already a system in game to add them to.

The mapusaurus doesn’t have to look like the real life version Dr Wu said it himself the dinosaurs would look very different if they looked the way they did 65 million years ago

66 million years ago. And that's a poor excuse since ingen clearly knows how to make feathered animals. There's a modified feathered lizard in JW.
