More Pathing Textures and wider paths

I think it would be a good idea to get more textures and wider paths. For example if you want to make a boardwalk, you definitely would need a wood plank texture and a path wider than 10 meters (32.8 ft). For a boardwalk type path, I think you would need a minimum width of at least 15 meters (49.2 ft) and 20 meters (65.6 ft) would be better.

With this you could make a seaside amusement park. I would love to be able to make something like this:

Plus, it would be nice if you lower the terrain at the edge of the map that the rest of the area beyond it lowers too. This way you could place water there and if it is continued to the horizon it would look like an ocean for a beach type terrain.

Problem with increasing path widths is CPU usage and the peep flow/pathing algorithms. It doesn't scale linearly as you drastically increase the number of options for a peep to get from A to B.

They have to make compromises somewhere otherwise people will just complain 'the game runs too slow'.

If I am reading the payth widths right, a path width of 1 is 1 meter wide, 2 is 2 meters wide, and so on up to 10 meters wide. If this is the case the width is increasing in a linear fashion.

It would cause problems. I have been able to glitch the game to make really big paths, but whenever i do them, the game freezes for like 10 seconds when i place or edit the path.

But, as you say, you used a glitch. If it was programmed correctly there would not be problems.

I'm pretty sure it would cause some serious ai problems actually. Its not a linear increase as someone else has said, it's nearer to being exponential with the much larger amount of pathing options that you are giving to the ai. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a "glitch" either, I know how he probably did it but I'm not going to discuss it here as that sort of thing is frowned upon, but I think what GamesawDrew experienced is probably the reason we can't have wider paths.

its not that the game would crash perse, but that the wider the paths the more the calculations required for the guests. They are still optimizing the game and probably put certain restrictions in place, but there has been talk about them improving path features (possibly hopefully)

lol[squeeeeee]
