This is just a little detail. But could be easily be improved.

I've scanned a signal resource: Distress call. I went into the instance. A frighter was under attack by pirates. He said something like "Help, anyone. I am attacked by a pirates, my hull is about to breach, HELP!". So I blew up the pirates. And then... nothing. The NPC pilot kept on calling for help. Forever and ever...

Why doesn't his message change to "Thank you, I would have been dust without your help. Here, take these materials as a token of my gratitude."?

You have to refuel them and then they will (probably) reward you

Oh, isn't that another kind of distress code? I have also came across NPCs without fuel, who begged for a refill. But I thought the pirate attacked NPCs should just be happy after pirates are killed. If you are right, then the question would be: why doesn't their message change to "Thanks for killing, pirates, but I've lost all my fuel during the fight. Can you help me out?"

First time I witnessed this, I killed the pirates. After the 5th iteration of 'Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!', I just killed him. Clearly he suffered traumatic brain injury from oxygen deprevation and was unable to comprehend his own existence, let alone fly a starship. It was mercy.

Oh, and it was a type-9 with tasty chemical manipulators... but mostly mercy... I swearz.
