More realistic guest arrival to the Park

One last suggestion of mine before we see the first gameplay tommorow.😉

The idea is as follows:
Currently guests arrive thru a cave at the parks borders. This has always bugged me in the first game but I accepted it as a minor issue.

Planet Coaster 2 offers the chance to change that. Guests should arrive thru either a train/metro station or thru a carpark at the parks borders. Ideally you could build all that yourself with scenery and guests would arrive there by car or train, but it would also be cool as a prebuillt area out of parks borders with maybe a few variations you can select from.

Heres some examples of how real life parks handle carparks and trainstations:

I'd definitely like to see an improvement over the mystic Planco Cave Of Creation we currently have.
But I wouldn't want to be tied into just having a bus or train tip up and churn out guests I'd it's not customisable.
I'd absolutely love some options though.

A regular guest spawner like we have now would be great.

But it would also be fantastic if you could create a transport spawner that could be customised.
Basically, choose between a road or a railway track. You make a route from the edge of the map to where you want the drop off to be and designate that piece of track that would act as a train station or bus stop.

Hopefully a pretty simple way of getting peeps to your park

But whatever we end up getting, hopefully Frontier will improve what we had before 👍

I really like the front gate building Frontier created for the PlanZoo entrance. It was simple yet elegant and looked way better than the "Cave of Creation" as Nemmie put it. :D I'd be okay with something along those lines if nothing else. There is also the way that the RCT that shall not be spoken of did it with an aesthetic parking lot outside the park boundaries with the park gate. Maybe Frontier could create a parking lot and/or train station outside the front of the park boundaries for ambience. All I know is that Frontier has a history of striving to improve upon their creations beginning with PlanCo with things like incorporating transparent glass and then the continual steps forward with PlanZoo content so I know PlanCo 2 will continue with more awesomeness (in addition to the amazing waterpark additions we already know about)

The problem I had with that one was that it already looked like an entrance. When I wanted to create my own unique entrance to my Zoo. So if it's a building, make it look like a train station or bus station Frontier.😉

You have full control over it though. I made guests come through train stations and highway tunnels and what not. Guests will always 'spawn' in one way or another. Unless they go overboard and make 100s if not 1000s of cars arrive and park (which is gonna be impossible lets be honest) I dont think there is much you can do. It should just be on the builder how to make the guests spawn realisticly

While I absolutely agree things like this sound great, to be honest I'd rather spend the resources required for other things INSIDE the park. Yeah, the "Cave of Creation" is weird, but we can move spawn points now, and many of our parks have non-functioning parking lots already. I just don't focus on where peeps suddenly appear, my attention is on them after they are there...

Totally get that, I still see it as a rather minor suggestion. Still it would be nice to have something different to a cave as the standard guest spawner.🤔

Working parking lots might be a bit of a processing slog, although wouldn't mind the option. Something practicably doable: I'd like triggerable intermittent spawning/despawning.

Think of this: there's a bus stop outside one of the entrances to the park. A bus drives out of a Cave of Creation, pulls up to the bus stop, lets out guests, lets on guest, pulls away from the bus stop, drives away to a different Cave of Creation, lather, rinse, repeat. Minimal game-time processing needed. I've got something similar as one of the spawners in my custom scenario Copperpot Orchards.

Or a cruise ship pulls up to a dock, many guests descend on the park all at once, then days later they all rush out to get back on the ship, which pulls away and sails off past the horizon (or into a Portal of Creation if a horizon's too difficult). Can you afford to build to more dock space? More cruise ships staggering their arrivals / departures, but you still have big groups of guests arriving and leaving in clumps as a scenario difficulty. Like I wanted to do in my custom scenario Lockjaw's Landing (got the spawners in a cruise ship at least).

Having a car park that fills up with cars and coaches depending on how busy the park is and having to build more spaces to accommodate demand would be a cool feature.

You could have different car parking options like grass / gravel / tarmac etc....

I saw some Pictures with a Bus where Guests emerge from. It looks to me though that the Spawner is hidden in the Bus, and the Bus doesn't Move. Basically a Clowncar. WHICH IS FINE BY ME by the way. A Spawner is all i need. I can Theme that up to my Hearts content. I can make a Fake Train Station for that or even Have the Monorail remain on Testmode so it looks like it delivers the Guests to the Park :D I understand that some people REALLY want to build a Carpark but... eeeehhh... seems like a waste of Space to me...

'and many of our parks have non-functioning parking lots already'

Honestly, I've always said that the best way to plan a game sequel is to look at what modders are doing and what unfunctional things people are putting in, and make them functional. If people are building it, then that's evidence that they want it. Might as well put it in the game if you can.

On the subject of guests, do we think guests will have/ use mobile phones?

Haven't seen any evidence of it yet but it would be nice to see the using them when in the queues and taking photos.

I feel like I would spend at least half my playtime internally screaming at them to get off Facebook and look at all these nicely lit bushes I placed for them. Ungrateful little b*******s.

They take photos with them in PC1, but only (so far as I've seen) at Vista Points. It'd be cool to see them used as evidence of guest appreciation / boredom with the scenery, including (you're right) in queues: taking pictures and backed selfies of stuff they like, scrolling forums or playing games on them when they're unimpressed.

In the second deep dive, more realistic entrances did seem to be present with the guests walking through scenery to the park gate. Not sure if that scenery outside the park grounds is editable though.
