More realistic Limits for the Tiamet and Rage: Hyper/Giga Coasters

I am not sure why this is but since the last patches, both: Hyper/Giga Coasters Rage and Titamet have been limited to the real world stats of Fury325. The idea behind it is not bad as its refered from the real world but as Tiamet is an Intamin Hyper/GigaCoaster and Rage is a B&M Giga Coaster both Coasters are different.

With limiting both rides to stats of Fury325 made by B&M means that some Hyper/Giga Coasters made by Intamin can not be rebuild in Planet Coaster. Even some Elements such as a Stengel Dive can not be used currently on a Hyper/Giga Coaster due to the limitations.

Example of Intamin Coasters which can not be rebuild exactly due to the limitations:

1) Skyrush at Hershey Park, which is the real world example of Planet Coasters: Tiamet features a 85° drop and has 140° Overbanked Turn.

2) Intimidator 305 uses same track as SkyRush but as 2-Seater Trains and has a 85° First Drop

3) Millennium Force is famous for its 122° Overbanked turn after the 80° First Drop.

Intamin Cable Lift:
Since Millenium Force, Intamin is famous for those fast Cable Lifts they use on their Hyper and Giga Coasters. While in real world the Cable Lift ends within the Drop to get the trains over the crest, in Planet Coster the Cable Lift ends in the middle of the crest.

Better limits for Tiamet and Rage allow more creativity:

When it comes to limitations i would use the B&M and Intamin coaster stats as reference and than set the limit for height, banking and drop angle to a slight higher value so that the Player is allowed to be creative beyond the real world reference and is able to create it's own coaster designs which can be still realistic.

New Limitations for Tiamet the Intamin Giga Coaster
+ Height: No Limit
+ Drop: 89
+ Banking 150°
+ Inversions: None

New Limitations for Rage the B&M Giga Coaster
+ Height: No Limit
+ Drop: 85
+ Banking 110°
+ Inversions: None

Great post.

This game is going to be around for years And Coaster companies are always trying to surprise and push boundaries. So I would at least want to be able to recreate what already exists.

I would like virtually no limit on drops and banking as I don't think it will be too long before we see a beyond vertical drop on a Hyper, for example.

The great thing about this game is that the devs are really committed to future-proofing it. They really read our posts and listen, and this includes the guys at the top. They're on the same page as us so what we have now isn't set in stone.

I've got to say though, I so want me a juicy slice of Stengel Dive [big grin]

It seems like this is a pretty regular occurrence, like it's not even the first time someone has brought this sort of thing up and gone "Hey Frontier, this type of coaster CAN in fact do X thing you limited in Alpha 3".

How deep has Frontiers research on coasters gone, and what are they actually basing the limitations they put in place on?

Honestly, what is the need for any limitations? If there were no limits whatsoever, would that stop you from making realistic coasters? No. I think no limits whatsoever would be ideal.
