Katkon: I totally agree. +REP
I would love to throw some money on some decent paintjob. And I would like to get some that are already in game. I would also love to buy some black friday stuff and some stickers/badges.

Anything to support the game I say :3
It would be cool to have some nice SRV rims.. Maybe tinted windows for my Cobra.. A spoiler for my mkIV?

need the aero stability when fuel scooping right?
I'm sure some CMDR's will find kerb feelers useful when docking haha.
How about some underside neons when landing gear are down! [cool]
Stop it, you're giving me ideas.... oh god what if we had lowered landing gear so we can stance our ships in the dock? LED striplights following the contours of a ship?! Lightbars?! BULLBARS?! EXTRA SPOTLIGHTS?!?!?!
I would totally fit all of it on one ship just to see how bad it can get. But joking aside, why the hell not. Personal touch is a good thing, would introduce a bit more variety and some things could be useful - others just make shapes different.
FRONTIER! Give us more options and things to buy!!
Can't wait to pimp my Asp.
As Katkon said, there is a distinct lack of customization available and that needs to change. Honestly, developing small add-on assets to slightly alter the look of a ship shouldn't be too time consuming or expensive to do but would provide yet another way to monetize the game. Especially creating assets that could be fitted to multiple ships i.e. universal assets, which exponentially increases the potential for profits. It's how most MMOs stay alive these days anyway, by continuously selling people premium contents that enhance their visual experience or otherwise are surplus to core gameplay and not a requirement for competitive play. Paint jobs are the most basic way of doing that, ship kits and bobble heads are a step forward but their contents need to be expanded.
Besides, imagine if you start out the game and you sit there in a sidey, suddenly a fully tricked out anaconda with spikes, bull bars, spotlights, fins, spoilers and a pirate paintjob lands next to you, radiating an evil red glow from its auxiliary lights and underglow. Then another one but completely different with spaced and reactive armor plates etc, with a more Federation feel to it, lands on the opposite side. That kind of experience which makes players go ''wow... I want that'' also makes them stay and stay interested
As for the Clipper, in the wiki listing it reads ''Panther pilots would blatantly ignore smaller pirate vessels as their shots bounced uselessly off of the ship's mighty shields.'' I don't think we have much to worry about in the ''target practice'' department.
