More Strange Conflict Results

Had a new one on us yesterday.
Won our conflict unopposed 4 v 0, but at the end our Inf dropped by 1% and our enemy dropped by about 8% (so the 8% gap is still there)
3rd place shot up a lot, so someone put in some effort, but surely our inf is supposed to be locked until AFTER the conflict is resolved ?
Is this normal ?

Did the overlapping Pirate Attack drop you a point?

It may have been 1%, but the gap to our opposition was still about 8% so the normal gap appeared, we were BOTH nerfed by old 3rd place somehow.
Should have been +4/-4 maybe +3/-4 but never seen -1/-8

Good point. All I can think is that 3rd place made a big gain on the day the war ended, the bottom place factions had enough activity to maintain their numbers, so it took ~4 points off each of you.

That implies if we hammer the final day of the conflict, then both parties should go UP relative to other factions, but I have never seem that.

I'm not sure. All of your activity on that day, as you're still in a war state, will either be directed to 'war points' or discarded. I suspect that only activities for factions not in the war can skew your numbers... but, if you could hit all the other factions with activities that drop their influence you could both go up relative to them and still be ~eight points apart.

This seems to have been a relatively recent change, too.

What it appears to do now:
- apply redirected influence for conflicts
- determine winners of conflicts, if any, apply -4/+4 and unlock
- apply normal influence for everyone else

What it used to appear to do:
- apply redirected influence for conflicts
- determine winners of conflicts, if any, apply -4/+4 and unlock
- apply normal influence for everyone
As a result (especially before the "ends early on insurmountable lead" rule) it was possible to lose the conflict but come out a lot ahead, or win the conflict and get a lot more than +4. So this is less swingy than that was.

Arguably it'd be slightly clearer if it instead:
- apply normal influence for everyone else
- apply redirected influence for conflicts
- determine winners of conflicts, if any, apply -4/+4 and unlock
and then you'd always [1] get the exact split on conflict resolution

[1] Invasion conflicts taking place below 5% lock aside, though.

I don't have evidence of this right now (didn't screenshot it at the time coz it made sense), but activities for a different faction which impact your faction still get redirected (For your faction effects). So, if Faction A and Faction B have a war, and Faction C has a mission to deliver weapons to Faction B, Faction B's influence effects as the recipients will still get redirected to the war.

There's evidence to suggest large amounts of effort for other factions not in the war may skew how the end result looks on the concluding tick.

EDIT: Doh, reading, what Ian said.

1, the results of the war are counted, and only then everything else is taken into account. You won 8%, but then the rest of the actions in the system were recalculated, and you lost% like your opponents due to the actions of another faction.

Yep got it in one ;)
