More Than A Pilot's Chair

I like the idea of getting out of the pilot's chair, walking into the back, turning on the in-ship radio and playing a game of Elite on a computer terminal while super-cruising through space. :)
That's pretty Meta
Meta would be getting out of the pilot's chair, walking into the back, turning on the in-ship radio and playing a game of Elite on a computer terminal while super-cruising through space and during that game getting out of the pilot's chair, walking into the back, turning on the in-ship radio and playing a game of Elite on a computer terminal while super-cruising through space.

Got me imagining the possibilities with an Oculus Rift and possibly even an in-game internet terminal... could be interesting :D

I've said this before. The scale and scope of Elite makes big warships a much more attractive prospect here than in the confined Cryengine-limited space of Star Citizen.

I'm perfectly content to get my hands on a Cobra mk 3 again, and do trade convoys, exploration and mining with my friends.

In the long run though, I want us to be able to get our hands on a Federal (or Alliance or whatever) frigate or even a destroyer, carry sidewinders and a few wings of the short range fighters along and go do epic stuff on the wild frontier.

And yes, I _do_ want that "guild hall" where we can sit in the map room or a warship and plan where we are heading next. In a heated battle, whether any of us wants to launch in Sidewinder to lead the short range fighters in the field, be directing things from a battlemap, manning turrets or piloting the ship will give awesome amounts of stuff to do, and truly epic feeling of risk and freedom.

While I think it will take awhile before that particular dream is fulfilled, Mr Adept, I direct your attention to Flagship, which does more or less what you ask for.

The genre is screaming out for just that. MMOs are, by their very definition, social affairs. If ED's social aspect is limited to wether or not I will shoot that player down before he shoots me, as awesome as that is, the game will not have the longevity we all desire it to have.
