More white animals

They're supposed to be rare. Zoos don't deliberately breed albino/leucistic animals because to do so requires mucking up the gene pool in significant ways, which is counterintuitive to the goals of conserving endangered species.

Well, yes, you are right, of cause.
But...
It really isn't fair that everybody playing franchise mode can buy leucistic animals from each species - you get them by the dozend if you wish, whereas sandbox-players can't. I mean: it is sandbox. It is the game mode which should ensure that you can build and breed whatever you please. You even can turn off animal wellfare - so why of all things should you NOT be able to buy a leucistic animal in sandbox? In challenge your argument is valid.

For a lot of species, getting albino on the franchise market is also a hard find/extremely rare.. Don't think that argument is holding up anymore.
For the easy/fast breeding animals: Lion/nile monitor/peafowl/tortoises/ostriches you can find several - but still nowhere close to the numbers a couple of months ago.
Just checked this on the market
(funny - the lemurs on the market are 7/8 albino because the same zoo put 5 albino on the list)

Getting albino's was a lot easier a couple of months ago. Atm for a lot of species it's the same with sandbox - extremely rare.
(from a certain POV it's fair :D )

You can get them in Sandbox, though. It just takes a lot of patience and effort. I bought and sold about 90 boa constrictors, for example, before I found an albino one that I wanted. Yes it is tedious, but it's not impossiblle, and I'd rather it was difficult to get them than to see them in the market every time I refresh.

The melanistic jaguar is obviously the exception because that particular mutation is often selected for naturally, but it's a lot easier to find them in sandbox mode now.

And the best part of sandbox you can disable death for your animals - imagine finally getting an extremely rare albino in Franchise and the female doesn't want to breed with the arranged male.

Yes, they changed it in sandbox. You can buy (and see) albinos. But it is tedious nontheless, because you have to buy some 1000 animals until you find a leucistic one, (and of cause sell them again or put them in a habitat if they are ill) whereas in franchise you just go to the market... Yes, it might be, that there are some species in franchise, you can't get an albino from - but the most, there are literally pages with only albinos.
I don't think it would be fair to check now (because many players are asleep by now), but the times I looked at franchise market, there were plenty of leucistic animals (especially the cats, but also bisons, cappuchines, even gorillas and big pandas).

Don't missunderstand me: I'm not complaining. I know how I can get an albiono, if I really want one.

But I can see that players, who don't want (or are not allowed) to invest so much time, but just want to play "happy sandbox" and watch a little bit their white lion are quite unhappy that you can't buy them directly in sandbox (as they could if playing franchise).

The big cats (especially lions) are easy to find - can't even remember seeing a bison/capuchin monkey
But don't know if the OP actually is referring to sandbox actually.

I can see that POV as well but I'm also a big fan of "rare should be rare". If they do change this - increasing the albino animals for the Frontier zoo seller would be my preference.
I've seen some people suggestion adding an animal editor to pick your coat variation/gender/albinism. That would be a bit too much for me.

I saw some white bisons and capucchins just yesterday in the franchise market. I even bred some by accident some weeks ago from some normal coloured parents I bought. (so there must be a white "strain" in both bison and cappuchins very present).

But yes, I think the OP referred to sandbox. But he/she wants to be able to buy some just like he/she could do in franchise.

As to "rare should be rare": it's more a time related thing. If you want one and you have enough time to spend, you just go and buy every 4 animals until you get your albino. It's more or less the same as before, when you just had to build yourself a breeding farm: you have to "wait" for about 2000 animals until you get your albino - and that's just a waste of real life time. So it doesn't have anything to do with rareness but only with luck and the willingness to waste time. I'm ok with that because I can decide on my own how waste my time. But some people can't (perhaps because they are kids or because they've got a hard and time consuming job) and I can feel for their frustration, seeing it is so easy in franchise and so terrible in sandbox (where everything else is supposed to be easiest, if you wish for it).

Yes, for me too. But it would be a consequent continuation of the already existing sandbox path. And it would make some kids happy.
I think, the best way to solve this problem would be a "real" refresh-button. As it is now, you have to wait for the time the animals are in the market to run off. And sadly you can't speed this up. The game even remembers what time you log out and if you log in the next day, there are the same old animals in your market. If the refresh-button would work like a real refresh-button (just giving 4 new animals if you press it), then everything would be very much better.

Didn't know about that one.

I used to play Ark only on modded servers for fun and for the easier rates - so I can relate to that part of spending your limited time on a game.
But I also like it when rare things in a game are rare.
So i'm on the middle on this one - but slightly leaning towards the rare part.

I breeded 2 albino African Buffalos from normal parents in a few months time - barely seen any on the market.

The "real" refresh button would be nice. Has been suggested multiple times and would work for some people.

I think the real discussion about albinos came when the jaguar with his popular albino variant popped up.
Which isn't even a hot topic anymore - is it because the forum has become pretty silent or it's not a big deal anymore?

I think most sandbox players are quite happy now, because you now can really breed with your albinos and get white offspring from them. AND you can see albinos in sandbox market now (which wasn't possible in sandbox before the "colour"-update). AND the chances to get black jaguars in sandbox-market have been increased.

For me, nearly everything regarding albinistic/melanistic animals is ok now.

Just one thing is missing: I would really like to have a "real" refresh button for a bunch of new animals in sandbox market!
