mining in my python, it was safe, no one around and the wife gets in, chucking it down with rain so i had to help her get bags from the car asap.

i read if you disconnect in a ring it can kill you on spawning in so i went afk figureing nothing would kill me in 5 mins.

it didnt... but as i put my headset down voice attack decided i had said the command rig for silent running.

i got back at 10% hull and in my panic forgot the key or the voice command to get out of silent.

dead, mining python and 150 tons of metals gone.

My usual tactic with such things is to point for a clear patch of space and engage full throttle. Sure you loose your current position etc but a small bit of supercruise and your back. Its also much more difficult for NPCs to kill a full throttle ship even if it is just flying straight.

Bad luck really, I hope there was some beer in those shopping bags
