I'm on the way out to Eta Carinae and wanted to check out this other nearby, even brighter star. It's obscured by a dust cloud and is invisible in the visible spectrum but is very bright in infared and x-rays. I know they didn't include every known star but I was expecting this one to be there.
I've searched for most of the numbers under "Other Designations" and entering partial numbers got very close to where it should be in the Trumpler 16 cluster, a dense clump of O and B class stars. The galaxy map seems to use random stellar catalog systems all mixed together around there.
It's probably not there because not a lot is known about it. Have they ever clearly stated their policy on this?
