Hey there everyone Xbox player here, been playing Elite dangerous off and on for the past 6 months. I haven't seen a single player yet in game even though I do Open Play. I tried finding a star system or cluster that had a lot of active players in the area because I miss the feeling of camaraderie when playing the game because I look for that in a lot of games that are considered multiplayer.
Right now I'm over in Cubeo because it's the HQ of Aisling Duval and assumed there would be players that would gravitate to a system where a galactic power is based out of.. but still no one to be found lol. I get the galaxy is enormous and players do not come close to the numbers necessary to see a frequent hustle and bustle anywhere, but there's gotta be a region somewhere in the galaxy where people tend to gravitate towards.. I mean in almost any mmo/multiplayer game there's always a city or two that people tend to stick nearby I feel like it's just a psychological thing.
Anyways, yeah I wasn't sure if it was just how it is, or if I'm just waaay far off from everyone else, or if the Xbox population is just nonexistent, or if the Xbox version is just impaired by the hardware and instances make seeing anyone as rare as a unicorn. Even joining a voice chat group in-game or on Xbox party that has a dozen or so players in party at any given time would be awesome but it seems like that doesn't exist either.
Tl;dr I just want to fly the sea of stars with the presence of my fellow commanders and actually feel like I'm part of a living universe that's more than just a creatively designed single player game haha.
