Most populated system

I don't mean as in population, but an in ships present at any given time, in supercruise, npcs or players or both.
I find it weird that in a system with billions of people I could only detect about 10 ships at any given moment in supercruise.
To be fair I don't really spend my time in the most populated areas of the bubble, more on the outskirts.
So am I missing something?

Players aside for now, the game will 'spawn' npc's in supercruise as if they just left somewhere and are traveling. Drop out of supercruise, then jump back in. The instance will reset (if your the only player in system) and you can watch it happen. Hang near stations or nav beacons for 10 mins or so and watch them to get a feel for it.

Players, on the other hand, can be found (in Open of course) near any Community Goal (CG), especially bounty hunting or haulage CG's.

You can also run into them in the starter systems and engineering systems regularly... just keep in mind you might not want to find some of us. Just sayin...

Just think of it as the high cost of a space ship being beyond most normal planet bound people and those that make it to the space stations are stuck shoveling biowaste.

What I do miss from the original Elite is seeing transport ships going to a planet surface (as far as you could back then).

I've never seen 10 players in one system except when the thargies attacked the first Aegis station. I would have thought the answer would be 'wherever the current CG is', but I wouldn't really know as I tend to tool around in the same area all the time. Luyten's Star was always a busy system when I was there. Ashby City is the coriolis there, right? Anyway, that station is particularly busy with players and Belugas, in my experience, so there's a fireworks display pretty much every 5 minutes as well. :)

The netcode, due to P2P simply is a "notcode".

Additionally the amount of NPCs representing a city
or such in Skyrim is as low, must be a british thing.

The most NPC ships I've seen in one place are around Evans Port at Parutis. Its enough of a swarm I can't count the ships.

Ah, yes. "High Cost" - that's why millions of ships are crushed each day to pieces in RES zones, I guess. The bloodletting in the CZ. The constant murder anywhere someone has set up a shack in.

Only 2.8% of citizens can afford a starship.

Wrong thread! ;)

Hmmm, Sol had a population of ~23bn the last time I visited.

& it is also the most expensive & prestigious system in which to live, hence the likelihood is that the proportion of starship owners will be significantly higher than the average; let's call it 5% for the sake of argument (but mostly so that I don't have to use a calculator [big grin]). That equals a grand total of approx 1.15 bn ships owned by the inhabitants of Sol.

When I last visited I saw about 10! :|

Another related thought: Within half an hour, anyone with a rented ship can afford to buy a brand new version with the profits generated from trade/missions. Space Avis would be doing a roaring trade with the end result being many times more ships in each system than there are cars on our roads in 2018.

Oh dear, Frontier have induced my suspension of disbelief issues with Elite....yet again!

And ONE station in orbit! lol...that' is the same amount we had in the 20th century!

Should be at least a thousand stations to choose from....little dots on the map....

....And thousands of McDonalds/Walmarts/etc.... too.

Stats by INARA, I have no idea what's in Munshin, I need to check it out :D.

Aisling in powerplay has been consistently at or near the top of fortification efforts. Unfortunately, it has also often had a high degree of 5C, and Cubeo has become somewhat of a PvP, ganking or griefing spot both pp and non-pp related.
