Mostly Harmless Anaconda

Personal Goal reached. Get an Anaconda while still holding the rank of Mostly Harmless.

I've gotten a conda with the intentions of it becoming my new trading ship. The type-9 is great for volume but the low jump distance and horrendous turn rate, I needed a break. I ran without guns on the t-9 but I don't intend on doing so with a conda.

I've been reading old threads as well as tinkering with e:d shipyard on how to equip this beast. Any conda traders out there that have a load out they like? Weapons wise and how much space you roll with? I'm not bounty hunting (I want a lance for that) but I wanna be able to "deal with" anything that might inconvenience me.

Cngratulations: She's a Beauty!

That said, how much cash do you have? As a pure trader you might want to start with an A-rated FSD and D-modules throughout for the rest and build up from there. As for weapons, I am running the huge Plasma-Ball-Dispenser, 3 x Gimballed Bursts and the rest Gimballed Multicannons and the destructive firepower is horrendous. As for internals, all cargo obviously with a smallest shields to prevent bumps and scs or shieldless to max the cargo if you're a risk-taker.

I have 400 tons of cargo space and I go with high spec energy weapons on turrets with two cannons for delivering the coup de grâce. So far I have not had to be a killer as I am a "mostly harmless" trader who got into the Anaconda for similar reasons as you; self protection, speed and efficiency over the T9.

My moduals are based on high A and D's, balanced for speed, energy and LY distance and also to make sure fuel costs stay low.

No one bothers me and if anything they scatter from my approach even though I always say hello but paranoia runs deep in the elite universe

I am proud to say I have never fired first on another CMDR but my weapons are brutal so this trader does have teeth :D

I got little over 30 mil after outfitting with all "D" and a B FSD (gonna go get an A). I'm guessing you don't run D sensors with that many gimballed guns though?

I have a trading conda. If you want max range (laden) but still have some defensive capabilities, you can downgrade your power dist and power plant to A rated but lower class. I'm running A5 power plant, A6 power dist, max fsd, A4 shield gen and A4 fuel scoop. Rest is D rated and maxed out cargo to give me 436 cargo and approx 20ly jump laden. For defence I have 6xpoint def and 2xchaff. Weapons are 3xsize 3 pulse lasers. This layout is fine for dealing with small ships up to python.
For more firepower, you can fill out the rest of your weapon slots as you see fit, but you will need to upgrade your power plant, dropping your laden jump range down to around 18ly.
I currently have a 13ly, One jump trade route so I can handle anything that comes at me, even with inferior shields.
Once npcs start interdicting in wings, this might be a different story and I may have to upgrade shields, use shield boosters.

Shalzarr...

I'm not sure what adjustments I'll have to make for wings. I've looked at the ships (videos and such) but I don't have beta so i'm just waiting around for now. I have a trade route now...i need 13.2 jump distance to do it, and 15.28 jump distance shaves off jump on one leg.

I've been having a hard time finding numbers on the range of each weapon. I know fixed have longest down to turret with shortest. I'm pretty sure beam are the shortest range with pulse at the top (not sure if burst is shorter or the same). So I'm thinking for turrets maybe going with pulse or burst for better range.

I went for the A5 shield instead of the extra 16t cargo and a combination of turreted and gimballed pulses + plasma acc. It still does 19+ ly with 420t cargo and can hold its own against multiple opponents. With all the extra firepower and protection I'd only really have to run from a combat fitted conda or python.

No, I'm A-spec'd but if you're trading then D sensors will be good enough as a start until you can afford upgrades. As Protoplasmic traveller says, 99% of the time it's an effective deterrent as everybody seems to leave you well enough alone.

Oh yes do yourself a favour and forget turrets. They are useless in their current implementation.

I'm a little surprised though. I thought the conda had pretty good layout for hardpoints and fixed weapons would be more popular. Or fixed beams and gimballed guns or vise versa.

I know I always roll with at least one chaff launcher, so I assume most combat geared peeps will be doing the same, how do you deal with this (assuming it's an issue)

Lastly on a side note..I wanna play with super death ball of goop, but money is an issue at the moment so I just have the big cannon (yet to use it)

Where to outfit an anaconda in fed space? Does Sol sell them with all the upgrades for a D class trader? I should be able to afford one tonight with insurance and cargo costs.
