Hardware & Technical Motherboard thermistor cables, what to do with them?

Finally getting around to assembling my pc, but I have a question....

My motherboard came with 2 optional thermistor cables, what's the best thing to do with them??

I figure maybe I want one to measure ambient temperature and maybe radiator exhaust temp or motherboard backside temps but was just wondering if anyone has any better suggestions for their placement?

(I know I could just leave them in the box, but since I have them I may as well find them a use!)

Whatever you do - don't shove them between heatsink and your die :D

I used to put one in the middle of a RAID stack, and the other at the middle underneath the motherboard. They aren't "bad" things to have, but their measurements were not all that accurate, the cheap sensors had a nasty habit of falling apart, and you are far better off finding hotspots with a cheap FLIR.

I do know someone who once tried to put a thermistor between the CPU and socket [wacky]

Good place may be power circuits of motherboard and GPU, there are usually no sensors there by default and too high temps there may indicate that something went wrong...
