Motherships?

Does anyone know if they plan on making any more ships? I would like to see some motherships, like an imperial MS and a federal MS. Each could hold up to 4 small ships, 2 small and 1 medium ship, 2 medium ships, or 1 large ship. And maybe a cheaper and smaller mothership that could only hold 3 small ships, or 1 small and 1 medium ship. It would be awesome, an onboard ship yard to transfer your ships from stations to mothership. To land on planets you would have to set your mothership in orbit and take a ship from your hanger down to the surface. What do you guys think?

I'd rather have a Fathership. Instead of squirting out 4 small ships or 2 small and 1 medium, or 2 medium, or 1 large, it would just squirt out 20 fighters at once.

Enjoy the mental images.

But I do like the idea of a small landing craft carried by a large ship - especially if that landing craft can also carry an SRV or several, so we can leave our large ships in orbit to fly to Raxxla with other Dismissed ships while we're down on the planet, and then return when we board our landers and Return to Ship.

dont capital ships start out with a wing of 10 fighters?

I've no idea - I've only seen the one that's been Refueling at Merope for the last year, the one that gets in the way at Palin's and had one show up in a CZ when the war was over and ram into me coming out of where ever they come out of and then complain about me being too close to them.

I've seen more megaships than capitals, and megaships are at least useful in some way.

You could drop motherships into CZ or even RES with refuel and rearm capabilities. No repairs or bond / bounty cash in. A place to land and rearm then back at it boys.

Just in the same instance, say 20-25KM away from the fracas, without a no-fire zone.

This is a good and clever idea :)

I think Elite: Dangerous doesn't need BIGGER ships but rather more, like ships that are more specialized maybe something like a cool stealth ship that is designed to operate while in silent runnung mode and therefore has more utility slots but less armor and hardpoints than other ships of the same size.

What do you imagine a player ship of that size would cost? 50 billion?

I'd love to see an aircraft carrier-style ship: fat, slow, lightly armed, heavily armoured and able to launch 5-6+ SLFs at once. Such a ship would have to have 5 or so multicrew seats to be effective, but it'd be pretty cool if it's possible.

Don't really care for the idea of bigger ships. At the end of the day, ships of those sizes would be impracticle to fly yourself, you wouldn't be a Commander, you would be a Captain, something like this:

I'm all for getting more of the ships from Frontier in though. Some people will say we don't need more small/medium ships, but to them i say, poo you, i want more of those sizes.

Would perhaps work better in a social framework, i.e. an organisation of many players, and require a minimum number to even operate it. Think something along the lines of the proposals from star Citizen.

I would rather have more mid size ships to have options in the Python (Armored trader) and Fer De Lance (Hunter) roles.
Large ships are fine with the options we have and small ships are plenty.

I have a feeling the only new motherships we'll be seeing soon are Thargoid mothership coming this way...
