I know that there are likely only a very small number of motion platform players of Elite, as I'm one of them I'm curious what other players are using and what results they are getting. I have a Pagnian / Next Level Racing V2 Motion Platform that is obviously, by name, designed for racing titles. It supports a rather long list of racing titles with different levels of success, with Project Cars it's good but with Assetto Corsa it's fantastic.
As there is no native support or way, that I'm aware of, to get flight data from Elite the only way I can use my platform is with joystick tracking. I stick left the seat moves left, I stick back it moves back and so on. While that's enough to add some fun it obviously isn't realistic feeling. My platform supports War Thunder natively and wow, the difference is huge. Just because I stick left doesn't mean I'm now leaning left as it takes time for the ship/plane to turn, etc.
While I do enjoy even the joystick tracking I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten a more realistic solution working. I've seen there is a plugin for XSimulator but with the way their site works you can't download things unless you've posted a ton or paid for some level of access (neither of which I'm willing to do). If I knew it worked great in some way maybe I'd throw a few dollars at it. It seems that it's been rather hacked and is reading memory addresses directly, as such it has to be updated for each release of Elite and I'm sure it's not something Frontier is pleased about.
So what are you other motion platformers doing? What platforms do you have and what do they work great and poorly with? I will say for the size and cost of mine, it's rather compact and is slightly smaller than the base of my existing racing seat - it was very easy to bolt under the seat and go. I got it new/used (new in box) for $1500 and for that cost have been thrilled with it.
