A feature most likely.Took a trip to Nervi 3A, and no mountains at all. Just a boring flat planet?
Please tell me this is just a bug in the new planet tech?
And thus, the one fundamental Elite Dangerous promise is being broken: the one of a persistent universe. It is fundamental to procedural generation that when you change the procedure, what is generated changes completely.
You broke that promise too by retiring your commander.Above the majestic Mt. Neverest is where I retired my CMDR for the time being.

"Great unique discovery you made there. Shame we have to remove it with the next update."
Nope. But nice try.You broke that promise too by retiring your commander.

fdev has a record of every planet we've discovered and could have had those continue to use the older terrain system to avoid deleting many years of discoveries.Stick to that though and nothing could ever be improved.
I don't think that's possible. AFAIK, it was all or nothing type of change.fdev has a record of every planet we've discovered and could have had those continue to use the older terrain system to avoid deleting many years of discoveries.

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Extra effort, yes.I don't think that's possible.
This seems to be the case for now, but let's not forget that the current set of popular vistas took over 5 years of exploration to discover (for instance, personally I've never seen anything outlandish either despite clocking hundred of thousands of LYs). It's not a given yet that there aren't any spectacular bodies out there.Although i do find the new planetary tech a bit boring since it seem to generate mostly flat terrain or with really low features - like 1km mountains
Horizons old planetary tech was maybe less realistic in its approach to generate planetary surfaces, but it was definitely better at creating more dramatic planetary bodies.
It's a given since the planets are all formed out of the same tiles, now. They can't generate unique features in Odyssey, just different scales of tiles and different arrangements of impact craters. It's not a given yet that there aren't any spectacular bodies out there.
Does anyone miss the old terrain of Horizons? I just logged into ED:H for the first time in ages to go and see Mt. Neverest...never been there before. I then logged into ED:O at the same coordinates and it looks like the miners went completely megaton and removed the mountain. There is just pittish terrain now. The new terrain engine for ED:O really did take away the uniqueness of alot of sites. It's a shame....View attachment 288683
