Alkaid - What is it and this post about?
It is an old star system, that was located on the frontier of settled space in the way of to-be Alliance. In Frontier Elite 2 and First Encounters, it was located in sector -4,10 and 85.58 light-years away from Sol, beyond a hazardous journey of several jumps and fuel scoopings.
Already in the FE2/FFE period, it was a 7-billion citizens strong communist system. Now their economy has shifted from tourism and farming to service and extraction economies. Today Alkaid is 103.94 light-years away from Sol, but only some 30 light-years from Alioth and sits firmly inside Alliance space, with one corporate faction from them in-system.
The ruling faction with 51% (as of 1.7.2015) share of system influence is Movement for Alkaid Unionists or MfAU, the communist faction.
I have decided to side myself with them and do my best to boost MfAU into total control of their system, and expand into their neighbouring systems. Back in FE2 when I first found this remote but self-sufficient system, I was impressed by their tenacity to go out into the unknown and forge their own way of life. Today I want it to grow, and it is possible within span of the game.
