Moving Elite

My C:/ drive is full and I would like to transfer ED to another drive on my computer. I know from past experience Windows does not generally like simply moving folders of installed apps around without a lot of fooling with the registry to assure the proper new directory paths are followed.
Can anyone give me explicit instructions on how to move my Steam installed Elite Dangerous, along with all the necessary folders to retain my current game, to a new drive/directory? and avoid a complete Cluster F!&% ??.
Thanks,

Personally, I moved the folder to another drive, uninstalled, then reinstalled to where I'd moved it.
Worked out to my surprise.

I don't really use Steam, but sure my son said you can move the installation directory of Steam games, to a new drive and steam will do it for you

I uninstalled Elite, then ran the launcher and reinstalled it to my D drive.

Worked fine, no loss of game character...
