Moving from Oculus to Steam

Thought I'd ask here first in case anyone has done this before:

I bought ED from Frontier back when it first came out.

Eventually I bought a Rift and linked my frontier account to Oculus (I did not purchase ED through the Oculus store).

Now, if I move my next VR hardware purchase away from the debacle that Oculus/Facebook is becoming, can my existing Frontier account be moved to Steam rather than Oculus?

Yes, I did just that to continue playing my OG account on my new headset, coming from a Rift CV1.

You'll need to redeem your Steam keys through your Frontier account on the website, through the Partner Keys section.
From memory, this may be limited to people who purchased ED before a particular cut-off date, which I can't now recall.

who cares if you need an oculus or FB account to play on oculus rift/quest 2 and use it on elite, we allow information and function like GPS tracking for emergency services and other functions in all applications all the time, twitter, youtube, most apps require approval to access your contacts and camera and photos but none of this has been compromised to the point people could hack phones and spy through the camera.

FB only requires the tracking to better improve their services and provide better interests to what games you play, steam does the same thing, amazon video and netflix does the same as well. this all should be the normal for everyone who uses a cell phone, tablet or laptop/desktop. no one is gonna spy on you while playing a video game not unless they are bored out of their mind and have nothing better to do nor have a life.

i have a CV1 and i hooked my FB account up to it on day one and have not had any single issues with it and i've had it for almost a full year now.
if you value your privacy and info and such like that then don't use a cell phone or useFB at all, i've seen people who complain about this change that are posting about it on VR community groups complaining lol well why are you posing on FB or even complaining about it at all? its ridiculous, straight and simple.

Yeah let's pretend Facebook isn't one of the most hated corporations to ever exist for many, many good reasons. "Both sides! Both sides!" isn't going to launder their reputation. So I hope you're up for literally decades of damage control.

Definitely enjoyed giving up on their "ecosystem."
