Moving to pc from ps4

Depends on the actual controller and applications running on the PC what presets you get offered..

If your using steam launcher, all controllers can be made to emulate xbox one controller and are by default emulating that controller... ED never sees the default real USB ID code.. you select "Default context" on 3.8 on 4.0 you pick "default controler with yaw"...

IF you use Geforce now that includes Xbox controller emulation by default... via the Chrome web browser render engine coding.. every thing is seen as a Xbox default controller you pick "Default context" on 3/8 on 4.0 you pick "default controler with yaw"

If your using FDEV or EPIC direct there is no emulation mode and controllers are seen or not seen as their real USB ID are sent... and you have to pick the nearest preset of "Default context" on 3.8 on 4.0 you pick "default controler with yaw" ...

Next gen controllers are not supported with presets, you have to set them up manually by selecting default joy stick if not using steam or geforce now...
This applies for both PS5 and series x/s controllers out the box...
The DS4 preset which is available Via Epic or Fdev direct version is years old and not updated so is like starting from Virtual zero so Fdev do support DS but dont have updated presets...

Next gen contollers when usng EPIC or FDEV direct versions are the same as non supported Hotas and will need to be remapped manualy... there is no best "preset"...

The Hotas 4 only works on PC hardware not streaming services... when running in PC full compliance mode with green light it has a single preset for it...

For you guys that have transferred, what's the closest controller experience to using the PS4/5 controllers? I have both of those and am happy to buy a XBox controller if needed. Flight stick and keyboard/mouse are not an option.

I've always played consoles so PC gaming is a mystery to me. Bought a pre-built with an i7 / 16GB / RTX 3070Ti, so hope that will do the job.

Getting all the modules and ships off my carrier, trying to clear the inventory, trying to figure out what old engineered modules (that have subsequently been outclassed by tech broker gear) are worth keeping etc has been a bit of a pain. Module management could really do with some naming/sorting/filtering/comparison etc qol updates. Not looking forward to key binding!

Oh well. Carrier is in decommissioning phase. I've got 3 Cutters and 4 Corvettes (mining/trading/combat/1 * passenger rescue)... trying to work out if selling the hulls and storing the fully engineered modules to raise an extra billion or so to transfer over is worth the hassle of rebuying / fitting the ships on PC. They'll never get used again on console; if console CMDR does anything he's going deep into the black and never returning. Not sure it's worth the time for what feels like a chore. How have you lot played it and have you maxed cred balance before transferring? Hope to join you soon anyway.

Ooh last thing - I've got 50 ish Osmium on my FC that I want to keep. Anyone know if it will transfer if I stick it in a ship inventory during the transfer process?
With respect to using a Dualsense controller it "depends". If you are planning on using Steam to play Elite it should see it natively as a controller if plugged in.

I use DS4Windows which is a third party app which basically means the DS5 is detected as an Xbox controller so can be used in games too. I use the Frontier launcher for Elite and this seems to be the only way I can get it working. It even works with Bluetooth if you PC supports it and being a modern build should do. So for me using my DS5 is just like on the PS5 although without all the haptics support, some rumble support does work.

I have tended to keep all my old modules out of sheer laziness to be honest. With a fleet carrier all your stuff can be stored pretty easily unless you need to junk stuff to make space.

I kept all my ships too and just got them all transferred, you can always sell those on the PC version should you choose to get rid of them.

I had 750 tritium I wanted to keep and just stored it onboard a Cutter for transfer. Seemed to work fine after inititally I thought it was deleted. I re-bought my carrier on the PC immediately and offloaded it to the new carrier.

Hope this helps.

I am quite new to the game. I purchased on 12th June 2022. I presume that I am eligible to free transfer to PC? Now that I am fully immersed in the game I don't want to get left behind on console.

On the basis that I can, I am not sure if my PC is beefy enough to run the game. Does anyone know that if I make the transfer and my PC won't run the game, can I revert back to console with the same account?

I'm on my work PC at the mo, so can look at specs later of my PC.

Thanks in advance.

For myself, I'll probably send the console account exploring. I'd like to see some close binary stars and distant Guardian sites so once transfer is complete the console account will likely head out into the black.
I want to keep my support carrier on both my accounts....forever.

I have 2 questions for Frontier:

1. When is the last date of transfers? This is important for us as a PS community, because of a) not everyone has a gaming pc and therefore, b) want to rank up etc as much as possible before changing over. (My alt account is in this category. Yes, I bought a second PS copy of ED already.)

2. How long can we still play ED on PS for? I want to keep my two carriers. One for squadron support and one I want to donate to become a star carrier.

Please make both answers public too.

They've already said with the first one- no end date until a further communication and plenty of notice will be given as to when that is.

The second - probably when it ceases being financially viable to run, whenever that is. If they can make money of it, it'll keep going.

There's absolutely no chance of anything more specific until they're ready to announce it formally, so take no news as good news in this respect.

Thanks for the advice on controllers GraphiteGB and stormyuk.

There's 1,000 tritium for sale at rock bottom prices (2k per ton, 5% of galactic average) from carrier Trit Firesale X1X-50N in LHS 2441, close to Shin Dez. Carrier is set to decommission 11 hours from now.

Feels weird. Had some good adventures with this toon. In a way, this feels like freedom from the fomo of CGs, unique modules, permits, ranks... he's going deep into the black and never returning. Take in a few nebulae on the way to the lonliest, least explored edge of the milky way. There's no rush anymore... don't need a 70 ly jump range in my trusty Phantom so will fit her up with more comfortable thrusters and PD, better shields, a cargo rack, couple of srvs, some scanners. Who knows what I'll find out there.

The Void and the Abyss both sound tempting. Any recommendations? Wouldn't mind going via Sag A to tick that off the bucket list too.

I'm a console game, and use xbox one now move to PC, because some of the games like COD and others have better experience on PC then console.

Mine will likely wind up in the Bleak Lands...
