Mr Stutter

I´m not sure what´s going on, but suddenly i notice a lot of stutter in the game, i have a 980ti, and if i check trhe performance, not the graphics card, not the processor memory or anything gets heavy load.

even with no supersampling and the VR in low, when i make relatively fast turns i see flickering everywhere, and in asteroids much more noticeable.

I´m planning to upgrade my ram from 8 to 16 soon and make a clean installation of my OS, probably will upgrade to windows 10, i have 8.1 now.

Do you guys play smoothly...??

I find that sometimes when making fast turns it looks like it's missing out a bunch of frames as it judders quite dramatically and i don't think its ATW kicking in because the fps is steady at 90 sitting in open space with a simple render scene in some cases.

When did this start? It seems a co-incidence that there are a few server (network?) related issues going on at the moment. I know that server/network issues shouldn't really cause stutter but we don't know how the game is coded and I've always had a feeling the two were related. So, I'm just putting it out there as a possible theory.

As mentioned elsewhere, I play relatively stutter free until about 30-45 minutes in then it gets really bad! full graphical stalls that last for multiple seconds at a time.. I am sure all this will be resolved at some point.. as usual..

For me happens from the beginning when i start to play, and i think when i started to use the CV1 everything was smoother, but maybe i didn't notice it because i was        g out with the VR, not sure.

for me is getting to a point that i'm not playing as often as i would like.

I have the exact same problem and it definitely isn't my rig because it's a beast.

I think that it's to do with the driver rollback I've had to do in order to rid myself of the flickering peripheral vision bug.

The server issues are affecting me too but I doubt those are causing it, it's possible though.

The 'graphical stalls' Gelt describes are not what I get, though.

another thing i have been thinking about is why the heck this VR generation does not have different frame rate options.

After playing with the DK2 for some time i strongly think 75hz is enough for smooth playing, of course 90 is perfect, but in many games, 90 fps really means stutter and a frame rate that is difficult to keep stable even with a 980ti.

i think the experience would be better than force to play everything at 90, and had to lower the graphics options and deal with the stutter anyways.

Had any windows updates that have readjusted PC power settings - I get issues with old X-Fi sound card - crackles and pops and stalls throughput - fix was power settings on PC card didn't like the routine checking that its wasn't wasting power - busses getting interrupted etc.

May be worth checking your settings and switch to high power and see if things change at all.

I believe 90 is essential for realistic fluid movement, otherwise you get headaches etc

I have DK2 and also get stutter problems, especially outside starparts. Even with VR low settings. No tracking issues, just outside view stutters when I roll or pitch up/down. Funny thing though sometimes it can be fine for a few seconds.
I'm using a strix GTX970, but my pc is 7 years old.

I'm normally smooth on the Vive, but Sunday afternoon my E: D had all sorts of jumping frames and stutter. Went to reboot then saw that I was still running Armoured Warfare minimized on the start bar. Doh.

Things got much better once I shut that down.

I can tell you didn't notice those extra 15 frames/second from the Dk2 to the CV1

but maybe if i go back to the DK2 i will notice now...., anyways, i think a non constant 90 fps produce more motion sickness than a stable 75 fps.

Check what might be running on your system? I keep my system very clean, in fact, other than Steam VR and Elite Dangerous, the only other thing that sits in my tray is AVG. No Stuttering here yet (touchwood) even with nVidia's new display drivers. I also have 16Gb ram though, but could that really make much of a difference graphically in Elite?

system - i7-4790k currently oc'ed at 4.5Ghz 16Gb ram 2x 980gtx (non sli since VR doesn't support it, come one FD!!!)

steam VR, you use the vive? i wonder if this is a problem of the CV1

i tried everything.. unload everything from my system tray and not needed services.. still the stutter is present, i will do soon a clean system install with windows 10, now i'm using 8.1

Latest drivers no flickering peripheral vision? Hmmm
