More excited about the future of this game than Elite Dangerous

After playing the Elite Beta 3 for a while, and reading that the release of the game is in 4 weeks, I'm more interested in the future of this game at the moment:

I feel happy for those who bought the game, at the time, and they were unsatisfied enough.
Now the game, with this patch, it belongs very much to the ''X'' series than how it was on the first release.

said that, Elite Dangerous is a totally different game.


p.s. (daaam the 3rd person view.. lol)

It's a submarine game, isn't it? Cuz it doesn't feel like a space game at all ;)

Egosoft are actually doing a pretty fair job on repairing X:R after the horrendous launch. Both in added content/features, and in basic functionality.

Two of the biggest problems in the game though are unfixable imo, and need a new release. The flight system (both normal and the highways), and the fact that you can only fly one ship.

I'm really waiting for an Xtended version for this one, much like in the first X game. If you couple X2s cockpits with the X3 economy and feel, and add to that the Χ:Rs engine, I think the result would be glorious..C:

I held off because of all the bad press.
Last week i checked it out and it is not a horrible game.

Positive:
+Beautiful graphics
+Voice over story
+pretty big universe

Negative:
-single player (can be positive if you are into that - i see no point in singleplayer sandboxes)
-bad controls/flight physics
-docking and walking around serves no real purpose
-combat is clunky

I would say it is no trainwreck anymore. They patched it up good. If you like singleplayer sandboxes it might be worth your money. It still does everything X3 did worse except graphics wich is kind of shocking.

The launch of X-Rebirth was really bad and they had to launch it way too early, but they have been working on it since and the game keeps evolving and new features are being implemented. I am very interested in seeing the Teladi Outpost expansion now.

There is just so much to do in X-Rebirth. The multiplayer is very badly implemented in Elite Dangerous, and with the lack of co-op missions etc. I don't see it being very different from a single player experience. The biggest complain I have with X-Rebirth is the simplified combat and lack of space ships, both which will be improved upon. My problem with Elite Dangerous is that there isn't much to do, and given the launch in few weeks time I don't know what to expect from the future of the game.

like many others I bought it immediately on launch, in fact, I PRE-ORDERED.

the release was terrible, but now it´s a really a great game with unique features you don´t get anywhere else.

maybe it will find back to the former glory of the X series with the upcoming expansion.

Or at least with the next expansion when they add more ships to fly
