Multi-Crew: More fun than I'd expected!

I have to admit, I was looking forward most to the Dolphin, Commander Creator, and the camera tools, but the new multi-crew feature was loads of fun. Last night I decided to fly off to one of the alien crash sites to record some footage and thought I'd invite two players as crew for the trip.

We ended up having a great chat, and even fought off an NPC pirate that had interdicted us. Great fun as one player handled the guns while the other hopped into the fighter.

There are still teething issues with 2.3, I guess that's expected, but overall I'm absolutely loving the new improvements. The game suddenly feels alive, and all of a sudden I'm surrounded by other players where before it felt a bit solitary and empty. In fact, I enjoyed the experience so much that this morning I put the whole journey into a little fan fiction story that you can read here - if anybody's not interested :D. It's called "The Man at the Pink Lettuce."

Looking forward to exploring the new features more, now bring on 2.4!!

Great story! I especially like the fact that you didn't say anything about telepresence and you treated your crew as real people being there.

That's what I am doing when I play private group with my friend. We are both role-players at heart, with commander backstories and everything. In my private little universe, there is no telepresence. We made the deal to only join and get off at a space station, handwaving the transport to the station and back. Same goes for fighters. We just pretend we fly them and when the fighter is destroyed you are ejected and picked up, just like with your main ship.

I can't get my head around telepresence but luckily in my private group with like minded role-players I don't have to.

Thanks, dude! Glad you liked it. I must say, I'm not a fan of the Holo-Me concept either, but I can live with it. I'm hoping it becomes more important to what's happening in the game as future releases are implemented. So fingers crossed!
