Multicrew, and fighter operations

Finally decided to have a go with fighters and hire some new crew members and it's got me a little confused.
Why, when I have 2 extra seats on the bridge of my conda and 2 fighters in the hanger can I only have 1 active crew member? Also how do you set fire controls for crew members, how do I get them to scan anything? I'm sure the kill warrant scanner was multi crew compatible but I don't know how.
Any help would be appreciated

All NPC crew can do is fly a fighter. A cmdr if in your ship via multicrew will have to set their own controls for firing/kws and such. And the reason you can only launch one fighter at a time is- balance? Instancing? Space magic?

I'm fairly certain you can launch two fighters, but you need an NPC in one as well as a player using the other through multicrew. And perhaps this goes without saying, but you'd need a two slot fighter module too.

Hmmm you can fly and they can or NPC and one person

Its odd that you can do this but nothing of the sort for SRVs. Not even to use your own SRV in multi-crew

^^This is correct. ^^

You can have an NPC crew person fly the mother ship while you fly the SLF, but NOT during multi-crew, during which captain MUST retain the helm.

Found it.

I was was wondering about this myself. So I fly my ship into the middle of a Rez, and join the hired crew member in one of my two fighters, leaving the main ship to just sit there?

Absolute genius game design.

I mean seriously, why bother.

Fit turrets if you want to go all-in on fighters / multicrew. Problem solved.

Last time I jumped into my fighter, I gave control of my turreted cutter to the crew person. This was an accident, and when I switched back to the helm a few seconds later, my crew had ready engaged a wing of 3 without me telling him to. Last time I do that.

That's why you have orders you can issue to your crew

More like another problem created. It's this type of thinking that gets this game into trouble.

Agreed, the feature should be more aligned with the name.
But I'm the one who assumed my NPC would also get in an SRV with me.....no one has explained that yet. So not only can the NPC not get in but also my real life friend wo I'm mentoring.....AND now even I cannot.

Well how the heck are we to mentor if no one can leave. SMH....

So he can fly and the NPC can fly but he can't get out and drive up and down a few hills????? and scan a beacon.....O K but he can help take down Thargoids and the NPC can too from my hanger......really fDevs, really

Your glass is half empty there buddy, need a top-up?

An optimist would say the glass is half full

A pessimist would say the glass is half empty

An engineer would politely comment the container is not necessarily fit-for-purpose and design a better glass. Or alternatively, serve a more appropriate drink.

If you fit a fighter bay that is able to launch two fighters you can invite two human pilots to fly them both at the same time. It is also possible that one crew member flies a fighter, the other one makes the gunner and the npc crew flies the second fighter.

I can understand why the Captain cannot delegate the helm to another Commander (prevention of other Commanders Destroying the ship - Personally I don't agree with this restriction ) but I don't understand the restriction of preventing the Captain delegating to NPC when a Another Commander is 'Tele-Present', when he can delegate to the NPC otherwise. That doesn't make any sense to me at all.
