The same way you have a fighter bay, have fighter bots. Don't allow them to pick up items and only let them charge up at stations or near the ship/srv and fight. Make them roughly as effective as a grade 3 suit without mods and have loadouts for the slot like the fighters do. Its obviously lesser than being in person but I could see this being pretty fun to help out friends in the newbie zone.
