multiplayer to singleplayer

I recently moved house and i only have internet on my phone, so i want to play in singleplayer to keep data usage minimal. But i am about 700ly away from SOL and no where near a spaceport (derr)
If i put it to singleplayer will my ship still be in the same place or will it reset me back to the last spaceport... (i wanna know just to make sure)

Switching to solo should be completely seemless, you'll be in exactly the same place.

Solo or open won't matter if you aren't in an instance with other CMDRs - if there's nowhere to send the data, the data won't be sent. You can check the network activity with CTRL + B. Compare open and solo; you're looking at less than a kilobyte per second.
