In your friends list (second tab from left in comms panel), you see wingmates. Select your wingman and select "Navlock to target" or somesuch. Then, when your friend drops a beacon (functions panel) and you're near enough, you'll drop out of supercruise right next to your friend

Basically form wings to enable joint trading/fighting/exploring/travelling. I must confess I haven't used Wings myself yet but youtube tutorials would be my first port of call

Go to your in-game chat menu, highlight wingman, hit enter then engage wingman nav-lock. When you enter beacon and he's near you, he'll enter it too.

You can also go to your right panel and set your beacon to be "on."

As for the automatic voice comm, that can be turned off on the 3rd tab of the Comms Panel.
