Multiplayer

There should be online multiplayer that the owner or other people the owner has set as moderators can set permissions. The other people can be viewers or editors. :pc::blue::pc::blue::pc::blue:

I think it's a nice idea if example: you see how other people build park and you building.

you and your friend launch a server. there 2 plot and online building :D

This has been asked for over and over and over and over since the game came out of Early Access...

The Devs have said that they'll have comments or say something on it... or something along those lines during their AMAs and what not, but no one ever comments or says yes or no...

It's really frustrating.

All I want is the ability to Co-Op build a park with a friend. It's 2017... we should be able to do that by now...

also been stated on video a few times i think.
technically difficult, too hard, too many more urgent things that impact far more players.
so it's a no.

Well i always imagined Multiplayer in those Types of Games differently, than the "we build a Park together" Model.

My idea would be that you and your Friends Park are in Competition with each other. Both have separate Parks they build but both are trying to get more Guests than the Other. There should be a set limit of Guests (like a Pool of Guests) both Parks draw on. If that Number is exhausted then no more extra Guests will appear. Both Parks are judged by the Game and the Winner gets more Guests. It would work kind of like a Tug of War.

The Trouble with this would be: If this happens simultaneously then there would be no ability to Pause for obvious Reasons. It could be possible in some kind of Turn by Turn mode.

No thanks. Building such a feature would be a massive undertaking', would only lead to more 'online only' requirements and it would be the final nail in the coffin for ever getting proper mods. Look at SimCity 2013 if you want to see how adding multiplayer to a business simulation game can end up.

The idea for a multiplayer feature for Planet Coaster is amazing when you think of the possibilities that it could give to players. Unfortunately, it's technically very difficult to do in Planet Coaster, from what I've heard.

Just imagine all features in Planet Coaster they said was impossible back in the days of RCT3!

Even though the technical limits of today... let us keep the Dream alive for a near future. Might be the main feature of a future "Planet Coaster 2"? Who knows? [yum][yesnod][wink]

I have 0 friends that have this game and have no interest in playing with randoms..and besides I honestly just can't see multiplayer working out to be fun...just my opinion here

You can't see how having say... you and your significant other be able to design a park together would be any fun? You can't see how one person could be designing the terrain while the other one builds the coaster and the result of how the terrain is formed by one person, the other person gets ideas for how to make the ride even cooler? You can't see any of that? If you can't, you're extremely short sighted and unimaginative.

I know for a fact that there are countless possibilities that would be opened if they were to give this game multiplayer. However, we'll probably never see them because they currently have no plans to ever include multiplayer.

Like... we don't want to play with randoms... we don't want like matchmaking or having rooms where you can build a park with other people... just you, and one other person. That's it.

Multiplayer is touchy. Remember SimCity 2013 days? It was an online multiplayer city building simulation that bombed so bad that they ended up closing 2 of their Sim Studios. Plus, most multiplayer games have server maintenance- would you enjoy playing your game, have a message pop up saying "game shutting down in 10 minutes due to maintenance" and than going hours without playing?

In a way we can already build off other parks our Steam friends create. A lot of creators already do this where one creator builds a certain area and than trade it off to someone else. Plus we have the workshop creations, so trading off/sharing our creations for other players to take from, build from, expand off of... it's already there.

A lot of players, well... my husband doesn't play the games I play. We only have one PC and he's a console RPG or MMORPG player. I just don't think multiplayer would be that successful, that's why Frontier created the ability to share parks, rides, and community creations via the Steam Workshop. I absolutely detested SimCity 2013 before it received Single Mode. Having to rely on another player, and some players thought it was funny to destroy my work I put into my game, plus the server wasn't capable of handling all the players so I got kicked off my own game several times a day until I just quit playing.

But to each their own. Many want multiplayer, so if they ever did add this feature in Planet Coaster 2 I would hope they kept single player mode in it.

depends on the game, most "server maintenance" or downtime is not something that happens regularly and is often scheduled during hours when most people are sleeping. If a game needs server maintenance, then either the game is popular and receiving updates (which are good things) or the server is being attacked by hackers (which is not good, but only happens in certain games) mostly its fast paced competitive games that deal with the most issues. OpenRCT2 has successfully achieved multiplayer for RCT through modding, and it works just fine with no need for down time as the servers can be hosted locally or remotely (meaning if I host a private lobby, its my server)

Not many games are "multiplayer only" unless its an MMO or competitive game. I don't understand how SimCity had no single player mode, unless they were trying to go for an MMO feel with people paying a monthly service? Thats not what anybody is asking for with PlanCo, most people just want private lobbies like OpenRCT2 has, that way if I want a friend to visit my park they can see how I am building and maybe learn from me while I play (sort of like live streaming, but they get to control their own camera) it wouldnt ruin your park as you would be able to save whenever you want or remove people from your lobby.
