Multiple control profiles

The control bindings are stored in an XML file (on PC). You can find it in C:\Users\<You>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings (or something like that). If you set up the controls, take a copy of the custom.binds file and rename it, then set up the next one and take another copy and rename that etc. You should then be able to switch your bindings by copying the one you want to use and naming it custom.binds.

Bit of a faff but there is no official way of doing it at the moment.

P.S. AppData is a hidden directory by default so you may need to set show hidden files. Like this for Win 7:

Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.
Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.
Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.

You can do better than that, here's a post I wrote on the subject elsewhere ...

What I did (which works for me) was as follows. When I first tweaked my "custom" settings for my HOTAS I then found the modified "custom.binds" file and copied it to a new file called "Alec-Hotas.1.8.binds" (the "1.8" seems to be necessary).

I then edited that file in notepad and changed the "PresetName" value near the top to "Alec-Hotas".

From then on, "Alec-Hotas" appears as one of the presets in the in-game control bindings drop-down and any changes I make to it within ED are written back to that modified file rather than to "custom.binds".

You can repeat this process to have more than one set of your own binding presets (for example, I have "Alec-Hotas" and "Alec-Oculus").

Also - once you've got these various sets of custom binding files, you can pick them from the bindings drop-down in drkaii's fabulous ED Profiler. That way you have a number of different ED "profiles" which combine graphics settings, control bindings and HUD colours. When you're going to play Elite you just run ED Profiler, Apply the profile you want and start up the game - job done.

I have the same issue. What I learn was Keep my flight stick connected move them aside. Set the secondary controls for my keyboard mouse. So I don't have that issue. Other then joystick have to stay connected. I am using the same profile.
