Multiple ship ownership

I've been wondering for a while about having multiple ships in (possibly quite distant) systems and how the idea that you can have a ship for bounty hunting, one for exploration and one for trading could work without the hassle of traveling hundreds of light years to change your playing style. Is it (or will it be) possible to store small ships (Eagle, Sidey) inside larger ships to deploy them where you want (with the possibility that both ships would be destroyed were you killed) rather than having to, say, fly an Eagle to a conflict zone, buy a new ship to fly back to your hauler to trade then buy a new ship to fly back to your Eagle to a conflict zone if you want to leave your hauler in a profitable area.

Or would you be able to request a bunk on a passenger ship to take you where you need (at a cost) or fly with a friend as a crew member to get where you need to be.

Obviously the EVE way of having clones in multiple systems won't be happening (I hope).

How do you, or would you manage ships far away from your current location. Or would you keep them all in one place and travel to points of interest in the ship you fitted out to do specific roles?

its more like tactics and placing your ships in strategic places for example scout ships at the borders of nown space
trafders in main trade routes ships with high jum range and fuel for traveling to these places.
its more tactical than most people think .

just take your time what works best for you .

Oh God I hope not.

I like the realism of needing to get to a ship to use it but yeah, imagine if you are 1000's light years out exploring and you fancy a bit of combat. What do you do, clear your save? Fly back only to have to fly out again? Buy a seperate copy of the game (plus all the addons etc...)?

If FD would allow you to buy a second save for say 25% the cost of the game, I'd buy it.

But it is so big this is impracticable.

I currently have a sidewinder with some offensive capabilities stored in Lugh from when I was there. I own a 32T cargo Cobra with exploration equipment that I use as my main ship. I was tempted to buy a Lakon Type 6 and keep it somewhere like Aulin so I can use it for generic trade.

Was it community people talking about hauling ships inside bigger ones or did it come from FD's mouth first? I know ive read or heard about transporting your ships but not sure where from. Maybe FD youtube clip or some posts in here from players.

The official line is that there will be a mechanism for transporting one of your parked ships to another location for a fee and taking a certain amount of real time to accomplish. This would allow you to gather your ships in one location which you could make your "base". Carrying ships inside other ships is also a possibility, but passenger transport for yourself does not seem likely. None of this was in place for release so multiple ship ownership is crippled as a feature, in my opinion. Buying and selling a sidewinder to shuffle your ships around is a clumsy workaround at best. Hopefully this will be remedied soon.

I can see this happening eventually. The idea of having a base somewhere or a mothership (how expensive will that be?!) is particularly appealing for me at least, don't know about anyone else.

I think this will become even more of a logical feature once there is the capability of landing and walking around on planets. There opens up a whole new level of things to buy, Penthouse in an exclusive neighbourhood in Achenar desert world hidey-hole and smuggler stash etc.

At the moment the current situation only seems logical as we are just hopping from station to station, but I hope that would change as the game opens up.
