Multiple squadrons per player confirmed?

In the teaser there are two applications pending. I think and hope that means they can be accepted booth at the same time.

If this was already confirmed by FD and I missed it, sorry for wasting your time. :)

Multiple squadrons per player opens exploits. Players should only be able to join one squadron at a time imo. Or there needs to be profile info so squadron leaders can see if someone is member of another.

Last I thing I heard from those-in-the-know was that it was only 1 at a time, but changing would be trivial (which is just as bad IMHO)

Note that in the video, they have only Applied to multiple squads, they are not currently members of multiple squads - There is a big difference

I have no issue with people being a member of more then one squadron as long as they don't compete with each other. For instance having a person a member of the fuel rats squadron and a member of a faction backing squadron.

If a CMDR can be a member of more than one Squadron simultaneously, I wonder if Squadron management will be able to see all of a members Squadron memberships?

If I am reading this right it's a PENDING application, right? So he's not in 2 squadrons yet. Hold your horses.

From a dev PoV though it wouldn't make sense to code for allowing multiple simultaneous applications if you couldn't be a member of multiple squadrons simultaneously.

I've not done MMOs before and was all for multiple membership being allowed.

Educate me on why it's bad?

One thing I'm curious about is whether squadrons will tie into PGs in any way. Right now if a player group wants to play in private they either have to get a new account and create a new CMDR to be the PG administrator, or else have one member of the group be the designated PG.

Having a PG for squadron members set up automatically would be great for some groups. Especially if they could invite other squadrons/players that aren't members.

I am with racer1... it makes no sense having multiple applications pending and the decision depends only on which of the Squads accept first.

I would like to see multiple memberships, because I am a member of LoMaC (Likedeeler of Michel and Colonia) an we have two player owned factions, one in the bubble and one in Colonia which we booth support.
In addition, I am a member of an independent anti Thargoid task force which I would like to join too.

If it is the case, it means it is not BGS-linked to a PMF, which would be sad.

Hm...I fear the alternative (every guild requires a faction) would be worse, and fortunately, impossible.

On original topic, I highly doubt it is possible to be in more than one guild at the same time. If it is, then that is a HUGE mistake.

One the big benefits that could be gained from Squadrons is (IMHO) to clearly identify Friend from Foe. If people are members of multiple Squads, I see no simple way for FD to present the data (like an NPCs faction membership)

There are certainly arguments for having multiple memberships, but I think the Friend/Foe issue is too important for the good of the game to fudge (Not my game. Canonn would suffer considerably from single membership, but I think its worth it.)

It's going to be interesting - especially if they've kept the 250 member cap - as I can foresee the popular large groups filling their squadrons just by having a famous name - at which point squadrons become about 'can I identify the players who are actually helping out from those who just want to observe' - especially with leaderboards and capped membership.

Edit: And that's probably a reason not to allow multiple membership - everyone joining all the large groups ;)

In the image at the top, it seems that The Fatherhood is shown as having 450 members - maybe the previously mentioned 250 member cap has been changed.

I'd expect that you can definitely apply - approval of the application is not a certainty, however.... ;)

I’m definitely going to.
I think Mangal has me blackballed at HQ for rubbing linseed oil into the AEDC mascot cormorant that one time.

EDF too, I wonder if the new leadership there are going to let Viktore Beskore be the gatekeeper and vet all the applicants?
It’s kind of what he’s been asking for years.

If multigrouping is on, I’m applying everywhere.
Eid has been sliding into my DMs lately, so maybe I’ll get a red carpet at LRN.

And more importantly- did Frontier end up sticking with that stupid “It has to be 4 letters” rule?
What did EDF choose? FEDF?
Did AOS go with KAOS?
SDC - did they go with DOGS? Or o7o7?
Will the Children of Raxxla become CORX?
Adle’s Armada will be okay with ADLE, I guess.
Comminism Interstellar will have to stop being CI and start being COMI or COIN.

It’s going to be pretty cool to see who got what.
