Ships Python Multirole PvE Python - Do it all with minimal loadout changes utilizing flex slot concept

Meet the Briarback Python. Tough as nails space cowboy forging his own path across the galaxy.

I wanted to create a multirole ship that can take anything from solo wing assassination missions to cargo runs to ground missions and do them well using the same ship and minimal changes to loadout. The flex slots in the build are all unengineered modules that you can switch out to your liking (if you want to). Utilizing those you can easily move from full combat readiness to 200+ tons of cargo to sturdy passanger ship to a very capable pirate lord hunting ship. It is always capable of gathering engineering materials with the 3B collector (longest range of all that size collectors).

This is not a beginner build though, it is more for those who have their Cutters and Corvettes and all the specialized ships they want, but they want to return to a simpler life and not worry that much about what ship to bring but to take on the challenge with their signature ship. Krait Mk II makes a great another alternative ship for this use and you can fit in a Fighter Hangar also, but you need a bit of a multirole sacrifice for that (I can go to details if wanted). Another variation takes thermal vent Beam lasers instead of the PAs: there is a double benefit for this as you get a kind of a heat sink with the beams and that makes it easier to use SCBs. I do not worry too much about heat though here: I do not really get any problems with heat until I am out of ammo anyhow with the Pacifiers.

What made me make this ship? I was a bit bored and I was testing loadouts doing some wing assassinations on my Python. My loadout at the moment was totally insufficient for handling the variation from FDL wings to Corvettes in opponents. I ended up flying back to base and taking my Corvette to take down the enemies. That felt almost like a failure in itself so I went back to drawing board: how make the Python capable of doing this too while not sacrificing all the internals for combat. The guns on this ship are so efficient that you can with minimal pip-juggling keep 4 pips to shields. That boost the already very capable shields a lot and allows you to tank multiple enemies while bursting down the main villain you are hunting. The burst damage of the ship with the Pacifiers is huge and it tears down enemy hull and shields in seconds and the better you are at flying the greater burst you can make as you position yourself perfectly for the shots (how much of that 1000+ dps burst you can get is up to your flying and enemy ship size). That is also why I went with Pacifiers after experimenting with normal frags. There was too much dps lost with the normal fragment cannons as Python is not the best ship to keep the distance optimal (Krait would be easier on that front).

The cannons don't pose questions, but the plasma on this (not fast enough or maneuverable enough) ship does.
Maybe it would be better to have 2 classic effective beams with heat dissipation?

It is up to your usage. If PAs do not work then the pacifiers will be equally lacking as those are fixed also. The reason I paired the PAs with the Pacifiers is that they have pretty similar shot speed so they can be shot on the same trigger. Here is an example fight of one of the better Python pilots flying full PA Python in PvP combat against a wing of 5 agile ships and able to hit just fine

I have come to the conclusion that Python is mostly just fine for these kinds of weapons.
Anyhow the beams is a solid option also because it gives an option on how to easily take down small agile ships in PvE that you would not want to spend ammo on and which might take a while to take down with projectile weapons like PAs and Pacifiers.

Anyhow, fully tested now. Pacifiers + PAs work perfectly together in short combats and Python is well agile enough to use them. If you are fighting a lot of smaller ships (vipers mostly) you would want something gimballed instead most likely. Asps, Corvettes, Anacondas, Pythons, FDLs etc are just fine targets. I did a few combat zones, a lot of assassination missions, traded SCBs for cargo racks and delivered some goods to CG, took back the SCBs and ran back into combat. Just the way it is supposed to be 🙃
