Murder at Jaques

I saw this on the Mobius FB page. Was tempted to turn back to the bubble and collect weapons, as I'm in a mining equipped Anaconda on route to Jaques station. But have decided to keep going and either go solo or private group when I get near Jaques :)

It's just people doing the dumb things that people do.

Heck, flying 22,000LY to a station with no services isn't very bright in the first place, is it? So i can't talk. ;)

Always bring your guns. You take a risk to strip down for convenience. Take the fsd range hit and be able to defend yourself or discourage hostiles in the first place.

I have no sympathy for anyone getting killed at Jaques. It's part of the excitement in the game. Did you think traveling 22k ly should just be a matter of staying awake to remember to throttle back? Let him play the pirate or the conspiracy extremist or whatever. All cg's should have a means of actively opposing them and the trip would be utterly boring anyway.

This looks staged to me. After all, the "murderer" is winged up with the "victim", then the attacker leaves the wing, interdicts the victim, fires upon them, and all throughout, not a word is said. The victim in the Python could have easily gotten away several times.
To me, it seems like they agreed beforehand to let the Commander kill the other one then play it off as "griefing". Probably thought it'd get them some infamy.

You cant hand in explo data at jacques, so the 'victim' lost all his data on the way there. Thats quite the sacrifice for a hoax!

Really is just a matter of time...Jaques is a honeypot of easy targets and while a few diehards do travel armed, there are a great many of us who are not including yours truly.

Although tbh, this looks like two m8s winding each other up rather than indiscriminate ^^

If it happen yesterday, then He was not the very first cmdr, who died here, but probly first one recorded wich was posted. ;)

But that looked indeed like setup of some sort, there was no desperate hail from victim and python clearly knew he is faster... 22k worth of honks might be very wary, depends on one's jump range and if they care about exploration data.

Even if victim had lost that all honk data, the attacker failed IMO to not let him land, in other words send him back to bubble.

I got attacked in Jaques' system yesterday by a CMDR in a FdL with thermal-enhanced lasers.
No comms, no scan, just pew-pew. I had just dropped out of SC in the metallic A-ring of planet 4, and fired a speculative mining laser at the first 'roid, so there wasn't even anything in my hold except limpets. I took some damage, but bravely ran away.
Once Jaques can provide repairs & Universal Cartographics I'll be happy to wing up to take on such space-dregs, but not yet.

As I left the station yesterday (sunday) a commander rammed me four times (once could be accidental) and got my shields down and took 25% of my hull within the 'no fire zone' - I had no chance to target let alone deploy my weapons... now heading home
