murdered, for outfitting !

Evening Cmdrs,

OK a wee bit dramatic, Let me expand last night whilst in outfitting i upgraded my multi-cannons as well as splashing out on a A class shield gen I've been after for ages * Strange you have to shop about for these, going in picking things up ect ect *

any ways 1st cannon bought swapped no prob's but just as i selected next hard point my existing cannon did a flip and turn and went crazy at some target or something, spent 3 ammo clips before i could get to swap it then it was fine, i just had about enough to trade my gen in for the A class at just over 600,000 cr leaving me a mere balance 400 cr, 36 cargo @ 40,000cr 1 x rep mission 1x progression mission.

So off i set check all and launch, WOW !! without warning station bombards me whilst on pad and its all over ?(

Don't have re-buy cost of 291,329 cr :S

So from a stance of over 4,000,000. cr in assets, weeks of rep gain in Fed space to finally getting a chance again with them and even a chance of a naval progression, if it all goes belly up, Nice cargo hold and BRAND NEW shield gen to a free sidewinder + 1000cr :(

I choose to "attempt " to carry on with no insurance, so if i got killed in the natural course of things then i have no grief, i made that choice!! but c'mon getting toasted on your own friendly pad, home, spawn dock

And as it's only a game I say : It's just not fair :(

I have no idea what you've described here. Your cannon opened fire while you were docked?

Are you saying you ship opened fire while in the outfitting screen?

If that's so, it's clearly a bug and you should...eventually... be able to get a roll back/refund

This is weird and reminds me of something in RL. In the 90's I had a jeep Cherokee. They were reported to "spontaneously accelerate" causing accidents. People SWORE thats what happened. I knew they were lying because it happened to me. The brake peddle was a little too small/narrow and if you weren't centered on it your foot could easily slip off and onto the gas peddle. People of course are liars though when they are liable. Several years later there was a voluntary recall if you wanted a bigger break peddle.

What I'm saying is, something makes absolutely no sense here.

Why do you launch without sufficient credits to cover the insurance/rebuy amount?

Edit: OK, nevermind, saw your explanation. Apologies for missing it first time around.

This is a known issue, although I thought Michael said it had been fixed; seen plenty of references to it - just log a ticket for it as mentioned.

OP admits not enough for insurance , says if he dies then that his problem. This was obviously another bug and as such isn't his problem. Send ticket get your credits back, you have every right to be hacked off and expect it to be fixed if it happened the way you describe.

hah. I was reading this and the first thing I thought was, why are you telling a story like it's normal for weapons to react to targets while outfitting when you obviously experienced a massive bug.

So far as I'm aware, your weapon systems should be inactive while docked. They shouldn't be reacting at all if you're in the hangar.

Maybe FDEV should force all ship systems except Life Support (for outposts) to shut down while docked, and activate only after clearance to launch has been granted? For instance, if I manually power off all modules except Life Support in my ship out in space or on the pad, none of them will do anything until I switch them back on (and I know it's obvious to practically everyone who will be reading this but the point is it's a straightforward safety implementation that can be toggled for all landing and docking statuses).

That would solve the issue (and any future issues they haven't uncovered yet) permanently.

I've had a ship targeted before entering the outfitting screen and had my weapons go haywire tracking it, but not actually firing (yet!).

I also recently undocked inside a coriolis station and wasn't locked to the rotation - I stayed still in space whilst the station revolved away underneath me - luckily I always have vertical thrust applied at clamp release! That may explain some instant launch deaths that people have experienced, getting smashed by the station.

Really? As im sorry about your loss (contact me in the game, i can drop you some cargo- contact details in the signature), OP, i must say: ITS AWESOME!!!!

Two reasons:

1. Its great for immersion. In the real life accidents happen. I can see the news headlines, when reading your story!
2. Some people in our group claim, that FD lost control over the ED code. The game is not doing what its supposed to do (eg: the background simulation). That means:

SKYNET is taking over the ED galaxy!!!!

Would you mind rephrasing your post in a more digestible way? Like Quineloe I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what you are trying to explain.

Yep Quineloe whilst in out fitting, during buy/ upgrading to larger multi cannons, i could swap views between hard points and it was just pointing up and back wards and giving it some ,,

Cmdr, as to my being hacked off ? or the auto firing of my existing multi -cannon during buy / swap out fitting screen, as i've mentioned now the third time ?
