Murderous gankers loose insurance rights temporarily.

...title says it all, could this discourage gankers? If they had to pay 100% of ship costs for a few weeks after misbehaving?

How are you defining ingame who is a murderous ganker or not.

What if a group of anti-gankers attacked a group of gankers for the greater good, will they loose insurance rights too?

How is it ok for a station to murder you for a parking violation but another commander can't murder you for a conduct violation?

Terrible idea, john.

How's that? They suggested they would revoke insurance as a means of enforcing karma?

The 'repeated murder' bit, it's where that line of reasoning goes. I don't think FDev gave any indication of penalties did they?

When 2.3 goes live the ability to add to your friend & block lists will be brought front & centre. I'm happy to wait & see how far that goes towards solving any 'problems' :)

Ah, I see. Well, I think if the block feature actually works to keep people out of your instance then that idea sucks canal water, too.

Why should they fear losing a ship?
They know who to not getting killed.
They can chose their battles.
A nice FdL is in the range of 100 Mcr. - peanuts.

Insurance and anything credits related is completely meaningless in this game (after a certain point).

Actually, if anything, it would encourage them. Even more to brag about.

Not to mention the collateral damage - just think about that "brilliant" idea of "speed limit" to prevent station ramming.

Why do you think that? Are you worried about other players in the blocker's instance being affected, ie not being able to instance with the blocked player?

A few possible things got mentioned - long ago - more along the lines of ideas and not as things they really plan. Docking rights and things like that. Until a crime and punishment or karma system goes live there is nothing we can discuss as everything could/can change.

In the recent Q&A stream Mr. Sammarco (spelling?) mentioned that the blocking system won't change, only the way it gets presented to the player. Don't get your hopes to high that blocking players will change anything.

Oooh i missed the last thread what fun!
This system would punish someone for murder, which is,from a certain perspective, legitimate game play.
We have access to lazer beams and will inevitably use them on each other.
A much better way would be to,at a certain bounty level, make the offending murderous scoundrel visible on the galaxy map.
We get new game play, good vs evil un all that.

Good idea, but insurance doesn't just pay a fraction of your ship's value. The PF also handles going around to buy the ship/modules and then engineering them.

I'm sure the players who want a more "Dangerous" galaxy would love the thrill of putting their actual ship on the line rather than just some easily replaceable credits. Think of the potential for emergent content :D
