Music Player

i know this may sound noobish
and this is my first ever thread in this forums
but any way we will get in-game music player any time or any news, plans or thing about this?

Yes it would be nice with an integrated music player. It would make it alot easier to select songs while in VR =)
But I haven't heard anything about this being a planned feature.

I have been thinking about this too.
Not something important for the game or necessary, but it would be really cool. :)

There are threads about this dating back to the early betas (I wrote one myself). Still no news but to be honest I would rather than work on other stuff anyway.

Would indeed be cool if there was an in game interface in our ship that we could use to play tunes in our ED "music folder" etc . I definately would move some FLACs in there.

They could even tie it into the BGS, and stream themes based on the current state of the system you're in.

Although this could be a double-edged sword, with tracks that can't complete or spammed Barbie Girl by Aqua.

You mean for X-Box?

On the PC you don't need it, since you can just open your music player or browser while gaming.

I doubt it'll ever be implemented, since it's a console-only issue and there are so many issues that are backlogged since more than a year.

Edit: Even with the console version there are currently much more pressing issues: I hear that you cannot hook up your flight controller, customize the gamepad layout or even apply paint jobs.

no we need it on pc
because i want my music to be synced with the game
when i'm in combat it stops automaticly
when i use auto docking it stops and ingame music plays
i want built-in music player that can recognize whats happening and plays the right music for that situation

Plus i dont think that is too much to ask for
its not game breaker thing or that hard to be done
its very easy to be done and any programmer knows that

I see where you are going.
The best solution would not be to include a music player, but to develop an API, over which other programmes can attach (including the music player).
Then we could also tie in all sorts of things, for example displays for system and galaxy maps or programs that can take out mapping/trading data directly.

Probably best implemented via SOAP or similar mechanisms.

Edit: Other ginmicks would also be possible, just think of a network attached red strobe light and marine-style klaxxons that could be triggered by the game.

I use that voice attack thing, either to use VLC to listen to playlists or the elite radio stations or play songs on a pre selected Spotify playlist. Just easier to control the music and sound levels rather than alt tabbing. PC only I'm afraid :)

Please no browsers in game.

Just skin up your VLC or Teamspeak or Firefox in orange and dark brown and run it on another monitor.

Seriously, we don't want FDev devoting time and resources making stuff that already exists.
If you run Elite borderless, you can fill your main screen but move your mouse to a secondary monitor without leaving game.

you can so run a second monitor.
Go to your local tip shop and buy one for ten dollars with a crack in it.

Seriously not everyone has a second monitor and not everyone even has room for one, adding this wouldn't be that difficult or time consuming.

There is this here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=219653 which could be used for now even though it requires borderless mode, I personally prefer full screen.

I dont agree with you!

This is almost the most important thing in this game.
I listen trance music, so music means loud for me!
When being interdicted ineed to focus concentration, i always turn off the volume.
The game could do it for be automatically while playing any tracks.

For example AIMP api could be used for that. and the game could play my playlist inside of my aimp player.
Thats an important issue actually

You our can so too run a second monitor.
There's nasty looking 15" ones at the local tip shop or recycling Center.
For sod all bucks.

Wait.

Ive got this strangest sense of déjà vu.

English please, I haven't clue what you mean in that first sentence.

I will say it again as you seem to have reading comprehension problems......

....AHEM....not everyone wants to run two monitors, I don't give rats behind if you can get a cheapo monitor, not everyone has actual room for two but I digress.

I would like an in game method to play tunes, it wouldn't be that hard to implement and would add that extra bang to immersion.

Feel free to disagree but there's obviously a demand for this and as such, since it keeps cropping back up as a subject, it wouldn't be a waste of the devs times.

It doesn't mean squat that you personally don't care about this idea.

So basically we agree. ;)
