Music Player

In game Karaoke is essential with the option to broadcast locally or form a band in a wing. So come on FDev, give us what we neeeeeeed!

Until it gets implemented I shall carry on humming Star Trekkin.

an elaborate one would be cool you know where you can make selection for different situation so even your selected music fit the situation, like having a combat folder, supercruise folder etc... something similar that we had in oblivion for exemple

Seriously, we don't want FDev devoting time and resources making stuff that already exists.

Except for UI elements, there's no need to devote time - one can whip up a player's core code during coffee break with public domain code and/or calls to dlls which ship with Windows by default.

So sad you know that song and who sang it! ;P
A very good friend of mine once remixed it into the dirtiest dark hardcore track I ever heard.

Oh, and Steam does music player. The game is compatible with the Steam overlay, so you shouldn't even have to claim a Steam key - just add E|D as a non-Steam game and access the overlay with Shift+Tab.

Seriously not everyone has a second monitor and not everyone even has room for one, adding this wouldn't be that difficult or time consuming.

Then buy one. Or get one gifted. I have two of them in storage.
Seriously, why should people's shortcomings in hardware be FD's or other player's problem?

Multi-Monitor setups have been standard since more than a decade now.
It's already a big issue that game developers are not skilled enough to make use of them. There are a few exceptions (DCS, Supreme Commander..) and the folks over at Nintendo with the Wii U Tablet Controller are doing fine as well, laughing over the inability of PC devs.

We see how FD struggles with such trivial things like integrating ship names - which is an alter table statement, some SQL code and some UI code. And we are still waiting for it since over a year.

If you put such stuff in like a music player, it will take until 2020 and consume considerable resources - for a thing that people already have.
Instead, make it worthwhile then and integrate a whole API, so the community can develop.

So this is just a VLC skin that does not hook into the game, but I have been using it for a while now (not my work)....

i run the game bordeless
and have 2 monitors
still i want built-in music player because thats completly something different and way better

Awesome and agree, having this is a great idea regardless if some others seem to think we should all have two monitors and are using this as an excuse not to have this integrated in game.

Thank god someone that knows what they are talking about!

It's not a question of money, if I ever do get a second monitor it wont be some cheap junk... I personally play from my 47" hdtv in my living room hooked up to a nice 5.1 sound system...none of those little junky pc kits. Not having two monitors is not a shortcoming....what an arrogant and asinine thought!

Afraid your far off the mark on this, the average consumer doesn't have multi monitor set ups but they do tend to have multiple pc/laptop combos like myself for example there 3 desktops in the house. IF it was mainstream like the nonsense your spouting game companies would make far far more use of that.

I agree FD have been struggling with basics, maybe they need to get their fingers out of their noses instead of relying of player made work arounds like we have been seeing for bloody basic stuff.

Stop being an enabler.

don't care about a music player as such - can be done easily already, but this thread made me think that Lave Radio and Radio Sidewinder and the distant worlds radio might be kinda cool to access in cockpit. Especially after the new Lave Radio antenna is built in Diso system =)
